I had not been here in over 40 years. It has been completely rebuilt and contained in a clean, modern building. The Center itself is mostly divided between a small Ten Thousand Villages shop and their own gift & book shop. There are some visual displays on the walls and an interesting film which explains the Anabaptist heritage.
I understand the research library is very helpful, but we are not ethnic Mennonites, so we didn't explore that aspect.
The highlight, however, is their Tabernacle reproduction. This too has been revamped somewhat. The original Tabernacle is unchanged, but there's now a beautiful mural of the Israelite encampment, and the narration is given by recording. There are 2 docents present, however, who are quite knowledgeable for anyone who has questions.

We enjoyed hearing the history of the mennonite people that migrated into the area. I never knew how much Lancaster was historcally. There was also something in the tour that talked about that it the capital for a day I believe.

The Mennonite Historical society was like hitting the jackpot for us they have the best kept records to any other place. We wentr there in hopes of finding relatives whom settled in the area back in 1844 and not only did we find records from deceased realtives but we found living realtives in the Pennsylvania area. Such awesome people helping us to find family and alot of information.

Amazing place to relax and get a look at the past! The front desk Lady was so so very helpful and knew her history!When asked about how long we needed to check this place out she said about half and hour or so ?? We were there over an hour. Loved it and it was very educational! Stop in and take a look!!

Videos were very informative specially for kids to have hands on experience and learn about biblical history.

Nice little museum for $5. Used books for sale in back had good selection. New books and other crafts as well. Friendly staff. They do artist exhibitions/shows.

This is not a huge place, they ask for a donation. There is a walk around area that shows the Menonite life and history. There is a movie you can see for a charge and they have a room for special programs at certain times, again for a fee. We skipped the movie as we were going on the bus trip from the oldest Lancaster farm (next to Target). They sell all kinds of religious books and crafts.

Very helpful staff member directed us to our areas of interest. There is a research area for genealogy which I did not have time to take advantage of. There was a good selection of books about the Mennonite movement in Europe as well as America.
