This is a hidden gem in Lancaster. It is the official store of the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen. Buying gifts here support local and area craftsmen who make things by hand locally. Stop in and buy a fine craft to support these fine artisans.

A nice array of crafts offered to anyone interested quality items. The store's offerings are not what you might find at your local elementary school' annual craft market. The Pennsylvania Guild store offers works by truly gifted artisans in array media. Wood, pottery, fabric, glass jewelry, and more. We came away with several items. A very pleasant visit.

We were first-time visitors to Lancaster, PA, and discovered the town is not short on handcrafted items, and stores that offer some finely made gifts, jewelry, furniture, quilts and more. The Pennsylvania Guild Store is the cream of the crop, offering everything from unique furniture to pottery and extraordinary textiles. There is something special for everyone here, and the shop goes out of its way to make visitors feel comfortable as they browse. Although we weren't lucky enough to be there at the time, the store also has demonstrations on some Fridays and Saturdays, so visitors get a chance to see some of the artisans at work. The lady at the counter very enthusiastically spoke of the workshops the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen holds and offered us a flyer of classes where we could learn cloisonne enameling, paper making and marbling, wearable art, embroidery, lampworking, woodturning and more. We plan to return to Lancaster and hope to take at least one of the workshops, something we hadn't even considered before visiting the Guild Store. The flyer directed us to pacrafts.org/workshops, and looking at the extensive offerings just made me want to return all the more. The quality of the craftsmanship there is so good and the pride in workmanship shows. Well worth the time!

If you love seeing and shopping for unique, well made, and unusual objects, you are going to love this shop. I'm so glad I made time to visit the Pennsylvania Guild Store, and I was very impressed with the variety of things I found inside -- everything from small home decor objects, to jewelry, to hand-dyed scarves, to wall art, and even fine furniture. What's really special is that every single item in the store is handcrafted in America (Pennsylvania and other states), by a member of the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen. What's also cool and unusual is that there is a mix of traditional/heritage craft and very contemporary designs too. You could easily find something wonderful here for your spouse, your kids, your friends. I can see this shop being a destination for graduation and wedding presents. If you have a friend who "has everything" and is impossible to shop for, this is a great store because you'll most likely find something beautiful here that they've never seen.
When I travel, I love the idea of bringing a souvenir from my trip that's not some generic trinket made in a factory somewhere far away but instead a really special fine craft object that's made by a local artist. I bought some gorgeous ceramic objects at this store, and I love knowing that each one was made entirely by hand, and is one of only a handful of such pieces.
What's also nice is that there's something here for every budget. I saw items for less than $10, lots of objects under $50, under $100. The gorgeous Pennsylvania-made furniture had higher price tags but I heard from the store staff that it's actually among their bestsellers -- apparently, a lot of people like to shop for fine, custom furniture for their homes at this store.
By the way, if you sign up for PA Guild membership, you get 10% off all your Guild Store purchases -- sweet! The membership is affordable and comes with a bunch of other great benefits.
PA Guild of Craftsmen is a really cool organization -- they also offer classes and workshops in woodworking, textile arts, metals, etc at this location. They even have special classes and art summer camp activities for children. The Guild has been around for over 70 years (though their store in Lancaster is only a couple of years old), and they're well known for their "fine craft fairs" that they produce in Lancaster, Philadelphia, and other places. I wish I could visit in June for their annual MakersFest, and I wish a place like this existed closer to home in my home state. Lancaster is a real gem of a city, and Lancaster is super lucky to be home to the Guild, all its programs, including this fantastic store.

A small well-appointed shop displaying the work of members of the Pennsylvania Guild of Arts and Crafts. The quality of the workmanship was top-notch and original. It's the perfect place for a one-of-a-kind gift or home decor item. Great location along Queen Street where galleries abound.
