I have wanted to try this ice cream for years and not sure I understand the hype. Farm was a sweet and friendly place to visit, especially with children but the ice cream was 'meh." Certainly better than most commercial ice cream but not as good a Haagen Dazs. Lovely folks though and worth a visit, regardless of the ice cream.

Best ice cream and homemade waffle cones. Always make a stop here anytime we are in the area! Visit with the animals while there as well. Highly recommend. You will not be disappointed.

The Best Ice Cream Ever!! This is a sweet, intimate shop for ice cream (take out or eat there.). They have outside seating, covered and uncovered areas. They also sell milk, butter and other dairy products. They also have a drive-through. Just drive around to the other side of the barn. This is a working dairy farm where you can pet the calves and watch cows being milked, but you better call ahead for times to do that. It’s a beautiful farm and the drive to it was also beautiful.

We visited while in town not 1 time but 2! We heard great things about the ice cream and boy was everyone correct. It was some of the freshest and most amazing ice cream we have ever had. The individuals working the counter were always friendly and the farm had cows you can look at and pet. Some large and some small. There is a tiny playground as well. Great place!

I stopped going when I noticed the taste changed in the 1/2 gallon container so I looked at the ingredients.High fructose corn syrup…I stopped going to Lapps and started buying Breyers natural for better quality ingredients

We came here twice on our four day trip but I could have gone every day! We loved the maple walnut flavor. Very pretty area and you can sit outside and watch the Amish customers drive up in their buggies. Also check out the cows.

This is simply the best ice cream you can find, served where you can chat with the cows whose milk was used to create the sumptuous flavors. Rich, very rich, the ice cream is worth the splurge of fat and calories. Off the beaten path a bit, Lapp Valley Farm is the gold standard.

A friend of mine told me about this place and how great their ice cream was. I got butter brickle, which was excellent! They also sell ice cream in containers you can take home, so I'm anticipating another trip. If you are looking for great, locally made ice cream (particularly with farm ambiance), this is your place.

Love the Maple Walnut ice cream and seeing all the animals! This place is clean and they do a great job of getting people served in a timely manner when it’s busy.

While enjoying two days in the lush farm areas of the Amish, we went to Lapp Valley Farm for the ice cream we heard about. It is made fresh there, and the flavors were great! I had the recommended chocolate marshmallow in a cup, and my husband had the butter pecan in a cone, and both were fabulous. We loved sitting on the deck in the very nice gliding rockers enjoying our treats, and then later bought some freshly picked strawberries before leaving. They were wonderful also! The drive was beautiful and just part of a lovely day! Our two ice creams were $8.64 and they took credit cards.

Are yous moving to Rt 340. We like to come to the farm and feed the animals and walk around the farm and then afterwards sit on the porch and eat ice cream. If yous move we will truly miss that.

"Amish Country" is present more in the south-eastern portion of Lancaster County. Don't miss is a casual drive around the area enjoying the landscape, the farmers planting for the new growing season, the people and their buggies (no facial pictures please), and the variety of places to eat (rely on TripAdvisor evaluations). We avoid the outlets with a passion. Staying overnight? Stay at one the the many farm based B & B's. We recommend the "Country Log House" which is west of the city of Lancaster, near Mount Joy.

Can the ice cream be packed to take back in a cooler to our hotel suite's fridge freezer?

We live 50 minutes away from the Lapp farm, and they pack a half gallon of ice cream in newspaper for us and we make it home without a cooler. I don't think it would fit in a hotel freezer.
