We were there for a two hour guided tour, and my oh my.... What a place. It was chilly out, and yet, time flew by. We got to see a lot of the school and were guided by two wonderful students who showed us around and shared their experiences. Unique!!!! Dont miss their ice cream shop.. made on campus!!!!

Visiting campus and the stadium is a must when traveling to State College. People are polite and the area is beautiful.

We hadn't been back in a while and there have been some changes, but we love to walk the campus - especially in the summer when things are quieter. Always a beautiful place.

50th reunion for class of 72! Alumni association did fantastic join. University Park is wonderfully quiet and beautiful during summer months.

Campus is huge. Do yourself a favor ask for the map of campus before you arrive!! Don't forget to go by all the sports areas even stop by beaver stadium on off game days as they love to show you their field!! Staff is super friendly and eager to proudly help especially the people who work at sports museum!!

Love this campus and all the wonderful kids you see go by. Everyone is always with a smile on their face and they have always been super friendly to me. Clean and spacious walkways and beautiful buildings. Love the old and the new contemporary buildings. Great campus feel.

State College and the campus as a whole might be the most overrated location I have ever experienced. I lived in the town for three years (not as a student) and once you get past football weekends it is nothing more than a town isolated in the middle of the state that caters to partying students. November through March have terrible weather and it is difficult to enjoy anything outdoors. The campus is nothing special especially when you have seen many others across the country. The bottom line is PSU is a cult in the state driven entirely by their worship of football.

Finally ventured out to this great university to visit all the iconic sites and purchase PS Wrestling gear.
It was refreshing to watch all the students walking to classes and mulling around town.
Walked from store to store, toured the area, sightseeing from landmark to landmark, stadium, Lion statute, the Creamery, the Hub, etc.
Really wonderful place!

University Park offers a beautiful campus, walk through amazing landscaped gardens and tree lined pathways. Adjacent to main street for shopping and dining.

We were given a very extensive tour of the stadium and athletic hall of fame. Very interesting and the alum who guided us seemed to have as much time as we wanted. Its indeed a magnificent facility!

We are coming the weekend of November 3 4 5 6 for the game and are looking for things to do and see. Is there a girls volleyball game on Thursday or Friday night ? Where are the shops and restaurants ? thanks !

To answer your volleyball question all you have to do is go to the Penn State website and see if the volleyball team is playing when you going to be there. As for the restaurants and shops, State College is not big so everything you want you will be able to find fairly easily.

Is dorm housing appropriate for a young professional on a three month fellowship? Are all bathrooms shared? Is it expensive to get a more private arrangement?

I agree with Honda4. The house my son rented has been partially empty since the beginning of May. The lease is until the end of August.

First time visiting PSU for a womens gym meet which is I believe in the Rec Hall. We also would like to see the Creamery & Shrine while there so I am wondering about parking. We would like to park and walk not having to worry about moving the vehicle several times but am wondering if this is feasible.

We have a gymnastics meet we are headed to and am wondering if it is feasible to park and walk to all the places we need to be. I believe the gym meet is at the Rec Hall but we also have plans to go to the Nittany Shrine & the Creamery??

The school has busses that carry you from place to place. I'm not sure they will be running On the weekend though. The school is enormous, if the weather is warm enough walking is possible, the ice cream is definitely worth a trip. Have fun.

On Jan 24th 2015 there is a men's basketball game at 12:00 P.M. and a men's hockey game at 3:00 P.M. Will I be able to make it to both games in a timely matter? I am not in the State College area very often and would love to see both Bryce Jordan Center and Pegula Ice Arena on the same day.
