Enjoyable morning to walk through the exhibit. Small gift shop. When we went, there were local student displays which we were encouraged to vote on. All the art was interesting. Helpful staff, elevators and large rooms to explore.

Each time we’ve come to Myrtle Beach we’ve visited this fine museum. It’s free and worth more than the suggested $5 donation per person. This time, the feature was on two juried shows: one for area professionals and one for area high school students. This made for widely diverse art in a variety of media. Although there is some obvious weather damage on the ocean side of the building’s exterior, the interior is very well maintained. I highly recommend this Myrtle Beach attraction.

I try and go there whenever there is a change of exhibitions. I love this place. It is relaxing and the exhibitions are always interesting. Don't forget to visit the upstairs and the gift shop. When finished viewing the art you can sit on the enclosed porch with a magazine or a cup of tea or just watch the waves break onshore. Don't forget to drop a few bucks in the donation box on your way out, since admission to the museum is free. .

This is a small art museum off the beaten track. Don't let that dissuade you from going there, for it is wonderfully curated. While they have a permanent collection, they offer changing exhibits (usually of art produced in the southern region of the US.)
Children especially enjoy the sunroom where they can sit and color pages (provided free of charge) and drink lemonade. It is a relaxing place to view the seafront and think about some of the artwork you're exposed to in the museum. The staff is extremely helpful, pointing out information about the artists who are exhibiting their work.
We had adults, teens, and young children in our group, and everyone had a great experience!
There is an extremely small giftshop, which one should pop into. Despite being small, they have some excellent finds at reasonable prices. Additionally, there is no admission charge, although they do accept donations.

Such a lovely art museum. The exhibits were gorgeous! It’s conveniently located right off of the beach. There was a nice place to sit, sketch, and play board games.

My family of 4 had some time to kill on our last day of vacation before we headed to the airport when we stumbled upon the Art Museum. We appreciated that it was handicapped accessible and featured artists from all over the country. As we were on vacation it was a treat to discover an artist that was from near our home. I loved that they had programs for children. The freewill donation was a plus.

Make a contribution on your way in...you might want to add to it after you visit the changing exhibits and themed permanent collection upstairs. Unusual items by locals in the gift shop.

The Art Museum is housed in a villa built in the 1920's. The exhibits features talented artists and interesting places.

The house that houses this museum originally belonged to a wealthy family in the area who donated it for the museum. It was moved to the current location. The exhibits that we saw were related to childhood sexual abuse and abuse of isolated minority women. We need to be reminded of issues like this and to speak out whenever we are aware of it. I personally had a friend who was abused by an uncle when she was 12 and it destroyed her life. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. There is plenty of free parking and the museum is free.

No pavilion, but the lovely enclosed tea porch and the adjoining exhibit room would make a nice venue. Although there would be no room for seating to speak of. They also have a large lawn that might be used for a performance. There is a calendar on their website.
