My family and I have been visiting Family Kingdom once a year for our family vacations. However, it has seemed to gone down hill in the past few years.
Expect to pay big time money. It costs $9 to park and then you are spending big time money to even ride the rides.
It seems as if the rides have gone down hill as well. On our recent trip we decided to ride the Swamp Fox coaster. We have ridden it many times and didn’t have any problems. However, on our last trip we experienced extremely bad roughness to the point in which I thought I was going to lose consciousness. After the ride was over I experienced extremely bad whiplash. I had a very bad headache and neck pain. Do not ride it unless you want a injury.

This amusement park one time was a gem but now it is very dilapidated. Not all the rides were working/ not enough staff was present? Don't buy the all day band before asking if all the rides are working! The place itself is run down. The rides are older than most amusement parks today, however they are quite a bit of rides for littler kids. My four year old was able to ride about 5-6 rides in the park. If you really want to ride the ferris wheel try the bigger one down the street- it would be more worthwhile to ride the large iconic Myrtle Beach ferris wheel rather than pay for tickets to ride some of these sad rides, unless you want to go for a bit of nostalgia.

A nice quaint little park. I was disappointed in the number of closed rides and I didn't see the clown who did face painting. Our kids loved her.

We bought the day long wrist bands for all 4 of us and we probably didn't need them (8 y.o and teen, 2 parents) for all of us, but it was easier than figuring out whatever we did need. Lovely evening among the neon and fair treats.

We visited Family Kingdom with our 4 year old and 18 month old. We all purchased the all-day wristbands but there wasn’t much that my 18 month old could ride. Most of the rides that he was tall enough for did not allow adults to ride so he immediately wanted off once he realized that I wasn’t riding. It might be best to gauge your child’s comfort level riding rides WITHOUT you first before investing the the wristbands. My 4 year old had a blast and wanted to ride everything twice so we definitely made the right decision for him. Overall, we had a lot of fun but I was say that I don’t recommend the wooden coaster. I got off very sore and I’m only 30. My poor dad rode it after me and it was evident that he was miserable.

My young grandchildren (5-10) have loved going to Family Kingdom, whenever visiting from Long Island, NY. Since my wife and I are moving to the Charleston area later this year, they wanted to go one last time. They loved every minute of their visit, and took advantage of the locals discount that I got for them. Unfortunately a few of the rides that they were on did not operate as well as in the past, due to needed maintenance,

This place was so fun for the night! We went on the huge white coaster and the hurricane! It was a lot of fun and the workers were super engaging! We had a lot of good laughs with them. This was a perfect way to end the night!

I only have about 90 minutes the day I am in Myrtle Beach. If I take my grandson for 5 or 6 rides, how much should I expect to pay (about how much is it per ride?)? Thank you.
Did anyone find out how much the go carts or zip lines are?

A lot of your experience will depend on what time of day you'll have that 90 minutes. Family Kingdom opens late...around 4pm...I think earlier during summer months-like 1pm. Then, you can expect a wait in line...so since you won't have long--your best bet may be to purchase individual tickets around $1.15 to $2 each & count on 3 to 5 tickets per ride...so roughly about $10 a ride...then wait in line...you could run out of time. Maybe take a stroll around first, see which rides he wants to do & then just purchase individual tickets so he can enjoy that ride because you are limited on your time. No point in spending more than you have to. MAYBE...instead of going to Family Kingdom...take that 90 minutes & you all ride the SkyWheel….that's amazing & that's about the time you'll need PLUS you'll get an option to purchase a photo they'll take of all of you for your memory book.

There's no admission to get in & each ride costs a certain amount of tickets. You can buy wristbands but I don't know if covers the go-karts. Go to their website for wristband prices.
all of the adult rides have a two person set belt and or a bar? Reason why I ask is bc I'm 5'4 and 290 pounds. Pretty much look like a prego woman lol just don't wanna get embarrassed.

It depends on the ride. Some rides like the carousel, Ferris wheel, log flume have no seat belts. I did not ride every ride there but didn't have much issue with what I did ride. Again, I have my tricks. I am 5' 10" and large all over but I can fit on most things by myself. I may need to reposition myself but that is fine, as long as the safety device can function. Never put your safety at risk just to ride! I don't want anyone to think that is what I am saying. The lapbars and seatbelts are there for a reason. There are some things I cannot ride. I do check out the test seats if parks have them. However I also try to dress light, cotton Capri pants instead of jeans for example. It is difficult in the fall/winter but we make the best of it. Don't be embarrassed, it happens. Try crossing your ankles and lifting up when they lower the lapbar and try to make it work. Be patient and don't give up too easily. Also parks are usually less busy right at opening so get there early and go to the coaster first. If nobody is around then you won't be so self conscious. Hope this helps!
What are the weight restrictions for the roller coasters? And how big are the sit belt straps?

No adults are allowed on the kiddie coaster so I don't know on that one. The Swamp Fox wooden coaster has one seat belt for both people and a single lap bar for both people. I am tall and large but I was able to ride, including one ride with another person. I have a few things to help though. I cross my ankles to allow more leg room and drop my legs a little bit. The seat belt on this was not an issue, it was a good length. As far as the lap bar, when it comes down I stand up a little so it has room to come down all the way and lock. I will say this coaster is a bit rough in the back so you might want to ride towards the front, over the front wheels.
As far as the steel mouse coaster goes, I was able to fit but my boyfriend did not. I sat in the front seat, again I crossed my ankles for a little more leg room. The seatbelts on this ride are a bit smaller but again I have a hint for that too. While standing, put the seatbelt around your legs and buckle it then slide it up around to where it belongs. Some belts are just too short and if you are wearing jeans this likely won't work, but sitting down spreads everything out and makes it impossible to buckle some of those, especially when one side is very short or down low in the car. The lap bar on this was not an issue for me but generally speaking, little cars like that usually have more room in the front.
If you are not sure, ask. This applies anywhere. Most large parks have test seats and if they do not, ask about their policy. I was with a friend who was not sure if she would fit on a ride and there was no test seat, so she was permitted to go through the ride exit when a train emptied to see if she would fit. She did not but it sure beat waiting in line and then being disappointed. Ask at guest services or the park office. Just be nice about it, but smaller parks probably won't allow this since the lines won't be as long.
Most coasters don't have a posted weight limit but if they do, that would be listed on the sign where the height restrictions are when you get in line. It's more common to see weight limits on water rides like water slides, and some kiddie rides where parents ride with kids.
I hope this helps! Don't ever be ashamed and don't give up too easily. Many parks won't allow their employees to assist riders so don't think the guy is standing there looking at you, he may not be allowed to help. And don't worry, everyone is not looking at you. They are probably looking at me over on the kiddie coaster with my hands up, going "wheee!!!" like an idiot. Coasters are fun, just have a good time!

Broadway at the beach and Barefoot Landing would give you something to do and still plenty of things down town for you too see and do.
