I had no idea what to expect when I went by midday in the middle of the week. I think I was the only non-employee there and spent a lot more time here than I thought I would. Fun, whimsical place to explore, photogenic, natural, and a perpetual work in progress. Lots of gardens dedicated to the memories of lost loved ones and an engaging environment to wander around in or go see a show.

My husband and I went to EmilyAnn Theatre on a Sunday evening (December 5th) to see the holiday lights. We arrived at 6:05 pm and walked right in. There were not many people there and we enjoyed seeing all of the lights. It took us about 30 minutes to walk all of the trails. The trail of lights is free but donations are suggested.

The intimate indoor theatre features great plays that are well performed. Never disappointed. The special events such as the Christmas Trail of Lights and the spring Butterfly Festival are fun for the whole family and all ages. The wonderful amphitheatre is great for the summer season of plays and Shakespeare Under the Stars. Include this unique place as a part of your Hill Country vacation plans. As residents of the area, we get to enjoy it year-round.

Just seen The Musical Comedy Murdewr of 1940. What a suspence filled murder mistory filled with side splitting humor. The actors are so talented and preformed flawlessly. The winter venue is small so acotrs and stage are right infront of you but the summer venue is outside with lots of seating. This is a true gem of Wimberly don't miss it. Tickets are cheap but perfomance is astouding. The surounding grounds provide a nice stroll

We had friends in the cast of Into The Woods, so we made the trip from New Braunfels to Wimberly to the EmilyAnn Theatre. I would've liked it to have a bit more signage on River Road to alert me when to turn - their sign is a bit hidden and nondescript.
I was honestly DREADING sitting outdoors for hours in late June. I was imagining unbearable heat and tons of mosquitoes, so we sprayed ourselves down with Off before entering. We ordered our tickets online and printed at home, so we skipped that line and walked through the lush gardens to reach the theatre. It's slightly sloped ad not paved, so if you have trouble walking on uneven surfaces, plan ahead. Seating itself is on folding chairs or plastic lawn chairs and is sloped up from the stage below. Every seat seems to be a good one, but we chose the first tow of raised seating. There was one row below us, where families sat with their children on blankets on the ground.
There was a nice breeze the entire time we were there (shocking for Texas in the summer!) and I was not uncomfortable in the least (I'm not an outdoorsy girl). Either there were no mosquitoes to speak of or the Off we used worked! There were some bugs flying around, but mostly around the actors in the lights. Millions of cicadas serenaded us all night long, but since the musical was Into The Woods, it added to the ambiance.
The show itself was well-directed, and the actors portrayed their roles very well. It's a long ride for us (50 minutes) down long, dark, winding, country roads, but I would definitely attend another show there, and now my interest is piqued for the Christmas Trail of Lights!

With a 3 1/2 and 1 1/2 year old we were a bit skeptical of attempting a seated performance. It couldn’t have gone better! We tried Magic theatre in San Antonio and it was just too big and not age appropriate for under three. So glad to have found this option! The small theater is intimate for a very up close and involved entertainment experience. They regularly involved the kids which they of course loved! This definitely kept my kids attention the whole time. I would say the number of seats is around 80 but there were maybe 20 or so attendees so it was a comfortable experience. Seating is folding chairs, but the performance was short at around 35 minutes so it wasn’t a problem. We were allowed to bring our stroller and kids snacks. There were bathrooms
available. We were the first to arrive at about 15 before the show and the doors were not open, the show started about 5-10 min late. We were seated and the very next woman to arrive chose the seat directly in front of us, since the seating is open I think it was bit discourteous which I probably can’t blame the theatre for however perhaps if they had an usher staff it would have gone smoother. The story was adapted to some cute characters, I just wish they wouldn’t have had the Easter bunny physically hit the other character repeatedly, I know it was supposed to be for fun, but I strictly discourage hitting of any kind so seeing characters demonstrate the behavior isn’t there message I was hoping for. We will still go back and check out other productions, glad we tried it out!

Over the years my family & I have REALLY enjoyed ourselves by attending the outdoor performances & most recently the children's indoor plays.
My Grandkids & their Moms LOVE the Gift of their yearly membership & anticipate each production with much excitement.
We also recently attended the Annual Butterfly Festival and had endless hours of adventure & countless moments of pure pleasure.
As I write this, my Grands & their Moms will be attending tonight's performance of "The Little Mermaid" with an added bonus of a very special audience with Ariel The Mermaid!!!
The pictures, the smiles & the pure awesomeness they will experience tonight at EmilyAnn Theatre warms my heart with joy.
My prayer is that my Grands will one day share the LOVE of the Arts the same ways their Mom did & the same ways I did!
As I live in East Texas and my Daughters near Wimberley, I must say that Rebekah & her Mom Ann have always been so kind as to help me with my reservations & membership purchases, they are a delight to visit with and a pleasure to do business with as well.
When in the Hill Country this is a MUST...plan YOUR vacation according to their performance schedules...I did, back in 99' & 01'...you won't regret it.
This Theatre is a classic example of turning one's bad into good...I praise EmilyAnn's family for turning their personal grief into a place of joy, fun and gathering for the whole Commuity, the Hill Country & the GREAT State of Texas!
Isaiah 61:3 NIV Provide for them who grieve, To bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the LORD for the display of His Splendor.
My Prayer...May this Gift to the Community LIVE On for Decades, Continue To Bless Many & Bless The Rolling Family...Amen!

I’ve previously seen a few plays at Emily Ann but this adaption of Jane Austen’s book impressed me the most. I love the small setting of the theater, where the audience feels like they are a part of the plays. Excellent casting! The entire cast did a wonderful job portraying characters from my favorite book.

We usually take our out of town company every year to see the Trail of Lights in Wimberly.
We went on Saturday night (23) this year . It was very crowded, we had a long walk to the trails. But that wasn't a big deal since that's what you do when you get there.
My complaint is the "music". They had a horrible band that was so loud you could hardly speak over it.
And they weren't even playing Christmas music !
It was bar type music.
One song lyrics kept saying over and over "I Want To Break Up A Home Tonight" !
I found it very offensive. They also kept advertise their band (which was awful)
You couldn't get away from it, they were right by the food, and restrooms.
I hope they do a better job with the music next year. After all it is Christmas and a family place.
But on a good note, the lights were very nice.
