We found this place on line while we were visiting Dripping Springs and decided to check it out. It's a little off the beaten path but not really far from downtown Wimberley and a scenic ride. It's a free museum, so I wasn't really expecting much but WOW. It is small, but has quite a lot packed into it. If you take the time to really look around, it has quite a few interesting items like brothel tokens & personal artifacts from well-known "wild west" characters - not to mention a GIANT jackalope and a pickled steer!! All in all, a really cool "personal collection" museum in a scenic area staffed by friendly people.

I was just wandering around the property and stumbled onto this gem. It is full of amazing things from the past. I could have spent hours in there. It was fascinating.

This area is very nice as there are three rivers that I know of. I know you can go tubing down at least two of them. The Blanco river is next to the museum. We went into the shop, but not the museum. We got to see the jackalope and he let us get on his back for photos. He is a beautiful jackalope and very affectionate. Getting to see him was the highlight of my trip. It only cost a dollar to ride the jackalope, but I paid an extra four dollars because I loved him so. I wanted to steal him and put him in my van, but I think the owner heard my whole throw momma from the train plan and how we would escape with him. So, anyhows, he still there waiting for you guys to visit him.

This was closed due to COVID 19 but we walked around and looked in the windows. We hope to return when they are open.

Wonderful place to take kids ( and us ole folks) good old fashion fun! Vintage video games. A walk around the museum gives a welcome glimpse into the way things were done back in the old days. My grands from 8-18 found it fascinating. And when your done a dip in the blanco river a great way to cool off!😎

Step back in time in Jack Glovers Cowboy Museum. A must stop in Frontier Town at the 7A resort. Jack is a great man with a lot of history. Stop by and have a little talk with Jack.

I was fortunate enough to get a picture with Jack when he was still alive, and now our daughter's had a chance to go with us. The museum is open weekends, and curated by Jack's widow these days. Unfortunately, the Remington building is no longer accessible (family only since Jack's passing), but I'll k eep bringing our kiddo as long as the town's open :)

We were looking for a side trip with friends and their kids to learn about Texas history in a fun manner. Finding a number to call for information was not easy! We ended up calling the "hotel" next to the Pioneer Town. They said that the town and museum were open.
When we arrived, the only thing open was the game room/ice cream parlor. The museum had a sign that the owner (only employee?) was out for surgery. Why the hotel did not know that is a big question.
The Pioneer Town is not a great place to visit. The place is an assemblage of buildings designed to "look" old/historic. They have not done well in the effort. The only two buildings of any interest are the bottle house and the cabin. The bottle house is exactly that--made with mortar and bottles. It is interesting. The cabin is also a nice structure, but nothing out of the ordinary.
The kids enjoyed seeing the "town" and that was all that was really important! This will not be on our list of "things to do in Wimberly!" Wimberly is a great little historic town with some good places to eat. Some shopping and Lions Day on the first Saturday of each month. There is not a lot to do, but it is a decent side trip that our friends enjoyed.

I guess I'm just not much of a history buff. It was worth the 20 min we spent but the best was just inside the door.. Jackalobe
