Great selections, home made ...from jewelry to wreaths, to granola butter...so much to choose from and look at...the divine foods being sampled...great place, go hungry!!!

This is the perfect City Market. Great produce including micro greens, baked goods, mushrooms, herbs and so much more. Organic meat, wild caught fish. Food was wonderful - I ate at the Caribbean booth - great food, generous portions. The artists and artisans were amazing - beautiful work - wood, leather, jewelry, glass, metal, paintings, fabric - and so much more. Two wonderful tea booths with herbal blends. Parking in the garage across the street is free - bonus! Check their website for dates and times. According to one of the vendors I talked to they have some dates that focus more on food and some where the focus is on artistic merchandise.

We are big fans of the Lancaster Market in Lancaster, PA, but we thought the Charlottesville City Market was a lot better. An unfair comparison in some regards, because the Lancaster Market is inside, the the Charlottesville City Market is outside. The Charlottesville City Market had some great produce, baked goods, meat, cheese and merchandise vendors. You can also get a lot of different kinds of prepared food there. If you visit early in the morning I would recommend getting breakfast at the market, good food and inexpensive. You should plan a visit to Charlottesville to take in the City Market, it's impressive!

Do you want fresh, organic produce? Hand-tooled jewelry? Homemade soaps made with goats milk and coffee grounds? Beautiful bouquets of wildflowers? Big stars made of license plates? Candles that smell so good you want to eat them? What about a place that offers you stalls with food from around the world? A vegan Vietnamese Banh Mi sandwich that will rock your world? The bottom line is just come. You won't regret it although your wallet might as you well end up poorer than when you started. A real delight and an enjoyable place to spend a few hours wandering around, eating, and shopping. Don't miss it if you are in town.

This has got to be the best farmers market I’ve seen. Whenever we travel, we go to the local market. This one was exceptional. The number of vendors is high and the amount and variety of fresh produce is extraordinary. The vendors are friendly, helpful, and most enjoyable to chat with...even during a torrential downpour when they are struggling to keep their goods and themselves dry!

The market only takes place on a Saturday morning from 7am until 12.30. Parking was difficult although it is very close to the Waterfront multi-storey car park. I parked for free at quite a distance down the main street, as parking on market day is a real nightmare. There were some really unique items, beautiful flowers, vegetables, fruit, I purchased some really tasty Granola Butter, enjoyed Gypsy Juice where I had peach and sage lemonade, and I enjoyed breakfast from Pearl Island Catering which was very popular. There was some live music and a nice atmosphere. I highly recommend it.

Great variety of items. Friendly vendors. Some expensive, some not. Downtown location not very convenient as far as accessing and parking.

Many different items to chose from, fresh local produce and flowers. Can get a little crowded but not overly bearing...

I visited Charlottesville one Saturday morning not knowing about the city market, but I’m so glad I stumbled on it! There was live music, and a wide variety of vendors. I bought myself a lovely bouquet from a local florist. I will definitely be visiting again to explore more of what it has to offer!

Whenever my plans take my to Charlottesville, I always make a point to stop by the City Market there. This is one of my favorite farmers markets around. Such a great assortment of everything from fresh produce, meats, fish, eggs, pasta, cheese to plants, paintings, clothes, jewelry and even something for babies and dogs. There is always good snacking on fresh breads and pastries, as well as many other specialties. Held on Saturday mornings and worth the trip!
