I hired Roberto to pick up a bag from the resort I had been staying in and deliver it to the airport. (Long story, but the airline lost my bag and got it to the resort after I had left) The bag wasn't at the resort, where I told him it would be. I asked to pay him for his time, but he wouldn't let me. I was communicating with him, from Canada and 6 hours time difference. He was amazing. HIGHLY recommend.

Ho assunto Roberto per ritirare una borsa dal resort in cui alloggiavo e consegnarla all'aeroporto. (Storia lunga, ma la compagnia aerea ha perso la mia borsa e l'ha portata al resort dopo che me ne ero andato) La borsa non era al resort, dove gli ho detto che sarebbe stata. Ho chiesto di pagargli il tempo, ma non me lo ha permesso. Stavo comunicando con lui, dal Canada e 6 ore di differenza di fuso orario. Era fantastico. Altamente raccomandato.

Roberto Sapone oltre ad essere un guidatore eccellente ed affidabile e' una guida turistica molto colta ed informata. Ha trasformato un trasferimento da Villa Armerina a Siracusa in una gita piacevole con interessanti spunti di riflessione.

Our trip to Sicily was made perfect by hiring Roberto. What can I say that others have not? He was a wonderful driver, a great travel companion and a knowledgeable guide. His great personal warmth, calm demeanor and humor made us look forward to each day. We hired Roberto simply to spare us driving in Sicily and we got so much more in the 3 days we spent together. Initially, were concerned it would feel like we had a stranger on “our trip”. We were so wrong. It’s truly hard to imagine our trip without him. It was as if an old friend took us on our preplanned circuit from Catania to Agrigento, to the Hill towns, ending in Siracusa. He knew every road and hamlet. Roberto added great authentic restaurants, not to be missed stops, beautiful vistas, tiny villages with big impact, all of which enriched the trip immeasurably. Don’t think twice, hire him. You’ll be very glad you did!

Fantastic driver and great company

My friends and I engaged Roberto Sapone to pick us up in Catania and drive us to Piazza Armerina and on to Villa Romana and then back to Catania. So glad we found him (through TA in a roundabout way)! He responded to my initial inquiries promptly and made great suggestions as to timing for the day, and was prompt and helpful throughout. He is also incredibly flexible. We had booked a lunch at a top restaurant in Piazza Armerina and a 2pm tour at the Villa with another great guide, Katya. The lunch ran VERY long and Roberto not only waited patiently for us but contacted Katya, who also was patient and we were able to get everything in with no issues or hassles. Roberto got us back to Catania after 7pm (19:00) and then faced a long drive back, but was completely cheerful, friendly and easy-going throughout. He's a really nice guy, great driver, speaks excellent English and shared info along the drive where relevant. And his prices were reasonable to boot. Highly recommended!

We engaged Roberto originally for a transfer from Agrigento to Ortiga, then with his expert assistance we extended it to 2 days. From our pick up at Agrigento train station, we visited Scala dei Turchi, Valley of the Temples, and the next day from our accomodation Villa San Marco embarked on a tour of amazing , typical, outstanding Southern Sicilian sights. The amazing highlands of Enna district, Palazza Armerina, Ragusa Ilbla, Modica and Noto. Roberto then safely delivered us to our accommodation in Ortigia . A mammoth drive in one day, all with cheerful friendliness, professionalism and expert narration of our surrounds. We cannot thank Roberto enough as he enabled us to get so much more from what could have been “just a transfer “ to an enlightening 2 day tour of the great districts of Southern Sicily.

Excellent Service

I found Roberto by accident through a web search as the the online information about getting to Villa Romana del Casale via public transport is so poor. He put me right about the bus service and I used him to take me from Villa Romana to Piazza Armerina. It’s a really charming town and I wouldn’t have otherwise seen it. His prices are very reasonable and I wish I’d had a night or to there and got him to take me around.

Reliable, efficient, and charming: an easy choice

Roberto helped me with a transfer from Piazza Armerina to Villa Romana del Casale. Along the way, he even gave me some background on Sicily and the region. He is a gentleman and it was very enjoyable to talk with him. I cannot recommend him highly enough. It is an easy transfer and he is simply the best.

An older New Zealand couple we arrived by bus from Catania in the newer part of Piazza Armerina and after our AirBNB host had quoted E15 for a transfer to her apartment in the old part of town we were on our guard as we knew the distance precisely and figured that a massive commission of 200 % was being sort for arranging a taxi. With that we set out on foot hoping to pick up the local bus or a a taxi on the way. Roberto was parked just opposite the local bus stop and called out offering a ride for E5.00.
This was the start of our 3 nights in Piazza Armerina and we inquired what the return far from Villa Romana Casale would be without our suitcases, knowing that we would be walking out there early next morning (downhill 4.5 km or so) Roberto made us another offer we couldn't refuse and sure enough was there to pick us up shortly after we called.
On the last morning of departure he was there on time to pick us up from the duomo square for our ride to the bus station in newer Piazza Armerina.
We cannot speak highly enough of Roberto's service, humour and command of the English language.
