Visited in January and it was lovely as there weren't any queues and we had plenty of time to walk around without crowds of people and didn't have to book a slot and was able to walk straight in. The museum is well set up and presented. It's very surreal seeing the exhibits, especially boots and helmets of the fireman that sadly lost their lives. Whilst we clearly remember the tragedy, we also learned some interesting facts, especially the "Boat lift" where 100's of boats of all shapes and sizes evacuated people off Manhatten who were desperate to get away. The film, narrated by Tom Hanks was so interesting and we didn't realise that had happened in such a large scale. There's so much to see and some quite sad reading but worth a visit and take plenty of time. One of the amazing things we were in awe of, the walls of the memorial fountains outside actually dropped inside the museum and these formed the original footprints of the two original world trade centre buildings.

This is a must-visit while in NYC, especially for those who were alive and remember that terrible day so well. The museum is beautiful and very big. There is a big mix of "before 9/11," "On 9/11," and "After 9/11." There is a tribute wall with pictures of all of those who died that day. There are rooms of items found in the rubble. I could go on and on. I was 21 on 9/11 and will never forget where I was that day while watching the towers get hit and collapse. This was an extremely moving place to visit.
Also, do not miss the movies. The one on the upper level is about catching Bin Laden and very informative. There is also one about the boats taking thousands of people off of Manhattan (narrated by Tom Hanks) and my husband and I both learned lots of new information from that one.

This Memorial is very well-done and powerful. I am so happy we made the extra effort to go to it on our quick trip to NYC. It was respectful to those who lost their lives and was very impactful. I would go again and will recommend anyone else traveling to NYC to go as well.

An impressive building with a lasting exhibition. I skipped the audio tour but didn’t feel I missed out. The artifacts and visuals are displayed with care, including warnings for sensitive content. A thorough timeline of events on that fateful day is provided.

Visiting this museum has been a long-standing goal of mine, and I can confidently say it exceeded every expectation—and then some. I highly recommend taking the guided tour, and if you’re fortunate, you’ll have Grace as your guide. She approached even the most challenging topics with incredible poise, humanity, dignity, and reverence. Her passion for the subject matter shone through, making the experience deeply enriching and unforgettable.
Plan to spend several hours here if you want to absorb all the incredible materials and exhibits in one visit, or be prepared to return—there’s simply so much to see, read, hear, watch, and understand. The exhibits go far beyond the events of that day, offering insights into the hijackers, the aftermath, and the cultural and societal changes in the years since. Newer displays also address the long-term effects on Ground Zero workers, adding another layer of depth to the experience.
Every display is curated with profound dignity and care. This is an extraordinary and essential place to visit—highly recommend.

This has been a goal to get to this museum and I can say that it was everything you might’ve thought it would be - and so so much more. Highly recommend taking the guided tour and if you’re lucky your tour guide will be Grace. She handled so many difficult points with great poise, humanity, dignity, and reverence. Her passion for the subject matter truly came across and made for a very enriching experience. Plan to spend several hours (if you can take in all of the incredible materials and exhibits at one time) or know that you will need to come back as there is so much to see, read, hear, watch and understand. The information imparted is not just about the events of that day, but includes so much more such as displays about the hijackers, the aftermath, and the cultural developments in the decades following that tragic day. New information has been added about the effects on the workers at Ground Zero. Every display is done with great dignity. Highly recommend.

The 9/11 Memorial Museum is a must stop if in NYC. It is fabulously curated and well worth the visit to it. It is beautifully done both inside and out. While it is sobering and somber given the horrific events that lead to it being built it easily displays the resilience of New Yorkers. It is well worth the visit.

Is it worth the money to opt for the guided tour? It says it’s only 60 minutes, but I feel like that’s not that long of a tour. And that I would want more time there. Are you allowed to roam around after the tour?

Can't comment about the museum but you can appreciate the 9/11 memorial fountains with a 30-minute visit.

Take a respectful tip and travel by metro. The transit hub and oculus that governs the entrance to the memorial site is architectural history.
