What a fabulous experience! This was one of the highlights of our week in San Antonio. We were all captivated by the show and it is free! Since there is no narration, I found it very helpful to have visited The Alamo and learned a bit about the history of the area which is presented in this creative video.

This is definitely worth a stop if you are in San Antonio. It was a free event to do- just make sure you are early so you can get a seat in the park area (otherwise you’ll have to stand or sit on the ground). The light show was wonderful to watch and the sound was good. They have a little shop that sells popsicles, waters, etc. They do offer 2 show times on at 9 p.m. and one 9:30 p.m. We went to the 9:00 p.m. on a Wednesday and it was not super crowded, just a little!

This show never showed up. It’s supposed to run like clockwork but it never started and no one ever informed us that it wasn’t going to show tonight. very disappointed and put a damper on the whole day.

The shows were at 9 and 9:30 when we were there in March. The second show is much less crowded. The shows are free! We really enjoyed the pictures broadcast on the cathedral and the accompanying music. Great take in San Antonio!

I watched it twice in one night—the show was that impressive. The first show on a Saturday night when I went was pretty packed (9:00). However , the second show (10:00) had hardly anyone there. So go later if you want a closer view for photos/video.

Only on Friday nights but exceptional show. Bring a chair or get there very early for available seats. Great job done on history of Texas.

The light show playing on the side of the Cathedral was just starting when we got there. All the tables and chairs were filled by the time we arrived, so we just stood to watch the 15 or 20 minute show (plenty of people were sitting on the ground, but it was dark and I couldn’t see what we might sit on). It was a pretty cool light show about the history of Texas with fun images that changed on the side of the building; it was very well done. There’s supposedly music that accompanies the light, but it wasn’t going. Even so, it was enjoyable and worth seeing.
My critique: Put in additional benches or other types of places to sit. There were a ton of us standing to watch. On the other hand, it’s a free presentation, so I can’t complain too loudly.
We meant to go see the inside of the cathedral the following morning, but overslept and were in a time crunch, so had to skip it. It looks beautiful from the pictures, though.

Take a chair or a blanket to sit on the lawn. The music and light show are amazing. Even better if you know a little bit about the history of San Antonio first so you can follow The Saga.

I have traveled a lot and seen a lot, but this was the most amazing thing I have ever seen. It is only about 20 minutes long, but every second was breathtaking.

I took my two youngest boys, 15 1/2 and 18 (senior) on a 4 day trip to San Antonio in January 2017. We happened to hear of this while we were there. Wear warm clothes if you go in the winter. Evenings get cold! The boys LOVED it along with me. Well worthwhile to see! VERY IMPRESSIVE! AMAZING!

There’s a message on their website saying the light show is cancelled until further notice...I’m planning a trip 10/25 and 10/26 so I wanted to see if anyone has any updated info about this? Thanks!

We were there in the late fall and the light show began at 7:30 PM. With daylight savings time in effect now it must be dark for the full effect of the light show. I would check with either the cathedral or the hotel desk where you are staying for the times. The show was repeated every one half hour. Arrive early to get a good spot in the front of the plaza facing the cathedral.

I'm not sure what the schedule is for the light show. Best to check the website or ask when you arrive at your destination. But it's definitely a don't miss free event!!!

Check the San Antonio / The Saga site. As far as I know it runs each week on Tuesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays at 9am, 9:30pm, and 10pm. The light show is at the San Fernando Cathedral and lasts 24 minutes.

April 17 and April 20 we’re both a bust. It is suppose to be Tues, Fri, Sat, Sun but they are a little lost right now.
