This is a one way drive that takes you to some great geyser. We had the good fortune of seeing the cone geyser (White Dome I think.) go off. Excellent drive a little off the main road.

We found this place on the map. It’s on a one way road that follows the river. There are great views of the river and some waterfalls

We did this drive at sunset and were able to capture some incredible pictures of the sun setting over the water. A beautiful area anytime, but extraordinary at sunset!

What a beautiful drive. I wished it had been longer. We actually did the drive twice because the first time we came across a bison taking a dirt bath on the side of the road! We were the only people there for several minutes and we just sat in the car laughing and taking pictures! A small bison jam built up so we moved on but immediately came back and did the drive again in hopes of seeing the bison again and we were not disappointed. Oh yeah, the scenery on the drive was gorgeous too!

Someone at the hotel said go to Firehole Lake to swim. Maybe they meant Firehole River. Certainly don’t swim in this lake. Worth the drive and views though

Firehole River drains into Firehole Lake in this area. There are nearby picnic areas too; we got here around lunchtime, so that was nice. The lake itself has parts that steam because of the geysers in the area that drain into the water.

Firehole lake sneaks up on you. Look for the signs and stop and peruse the lake. The steam coming off is really spectacular and its a sight to see. Its not along road, so worth the drive.

I'm surprised this doesn't have more reviews considering its worthiness and easy access. It's a short loop, and unless you arrive at Great Fountain Geyser close to an eruption time and wish to stay, it is pretty quick. The drive and sights are one of the lesser known highlights of Yellowstone.

This one way loop off the Grand Loop Road takes you past several thermal features and Firehole Lake.

we got some REALLY cool photos on this drive because the sun was setting, the steam was rising and the wind was blowing--it almost looked like we were walking around in a HOT thick fog! a really cool experience!

There is not a lot of info on firehole spring. just curious, when I look in videos there is something big in the distance, is it a train? Also what else is around it to explore?

The firehole geyser check the schedule when it goes off. You actually sit alot closer to the geyser vs old faithful and there is bench seating

How long is the boardwalk and how long does it take to walk it?

Sorry, Betty, I just got this, The boardwalk is very short, years ago there was a trail back from there for some distance but that is were the extremophiles were found for research and it is now closed. There are two boardwalks at the end, left and right, do both. Say 10 minutes each? Many buffalo in the spring. But before you go that far be sure to stop on the left as you drive in to see the bubbles rise from the Firehole pool, before you get to Great Fountain.
