Leuk om even voor te stoppen, een kop koffie te drinken en het mini-museum te bekijken. Wanneer je wat ouder bent kom je veel dingen uit je eigen jeugd tegen.

tijdens een wandel of fiets toer een gewekdige plek voor een koffie snack of een ijsje. Verwacht geen hoogstaande keuken maar gezelligheid en ouderwetse drenthse prijzen dat is het in een woord. Gezellig DIT IS Drenthe

Echt super leuk om met de kinderen even langs te gaan! Heft oude schooltje vond ik echt super leuk als kind. Nog met Aap Noot Mies..

Het zijn erg vriendelijke mensen en je kunt er heerlijk op het grasveld zitten. Er is zoveel ruimte dat je altijd een rustig plekje kunt vinden. Het is leuk om even in het museum te kijken, maar we blijven meestal op het grasveld hangen. Mooie plek op een kruispunt van fietspaden.

Een leuk, terug in de tijd, museum over Anne de Vries en Bartje. Anne de Vries heeft ook in Suriname roots liggen dus ook voor mijn man een leuke herinnering met een kalender van de houten Petrus en Pauluskerk. En natuurlijk allerlei oude gebruiksvoorwerpen zoals scheerkwasten en strijkijzers En voor kinderen zijn er allerlei karren, traktors e.d. Ook een hapje en drankje zijn hier te krijgen.

Streek Museum "Het Dorp van Bartje" is a museum which is partly devoted to artefacts from the area, partly to the children's author Anne de Vries, author of the books about a character called "Bartje". Bartje is well-known in Holland. He is a village boy who grows up in a poor farming family in the early 20th century, the same time that the author himself was a child. The characters in the book speak Drenthe dialect. The most famous quotation from the stories comes when his mother serves up brown beans, which he hates. When asked to say grace he refuses, exploding with (in modern Dutch) "Ik bid niet voor bruine bonen" ("I don't say grace for brown beans"). The family reaction from the strictly religious family can be imagined!
Entrance to the museum is free of charge. There is a building (one room) which contains photos and letters of Anne de Vries and other documents relating to him (Anne can be a man's name in north Holland). Obviously it will only be of interest to Dutch speakers who are familiar with Bartje (I read the books during my childhood, part of which was spent in Holland). The main building contains a restaurant (brown beans are on the menu) and a large room with various local objects. Unfortunately these are thrown together in a rather chaotic mess, and the whole room rather resembles an attic which needs clearing out. There is no information anywhere. We do not know what period things come from (a variety it would seem). There is potential here for something interesting, but it needs complete reorganisation.

Best leuk om eens heen twee gaan. Het museum ligt naast onze camping en de entree is gratis. anders waren wij er ws niet heen gegaan.

Het dorp van Bartje is echt terug in de tijd, met een plaggenhut, oud schooltje en andere oude bezienswaardigheden denk je dat je weer terug bent in de turfstekers tijd. Je kunt er rustig zitten om er een hapje en een drankje te nuttigen.

The "Dorp van Bartje" is a small scale museum and restaurant set within a pleasant garden / small park type of environment in the scenic village of Rolde, on the road to even more scenic Balloo. They have inside and outside seating and a menu with typical Dutch delicacies such as Pannekoeken (pancakes), Bal Gehakt (meatball), broodje kroket (roll with Croquet) and Uitsmijter (fried eggs).
The place was named after the well known Drenthe province character Bartje, who famously said "Ik bid niet veur bruune bonen" (I do not pray for brown beans). Brown beans and bacon are also on the menu!
It has several exhibits such as a small school and old style farm house and a lot of antique irons. Also the garden is very pleasant centered around a unique three-trunked old oak tree. They keep a couple of animals such as goats which is interesting for children to see.
This is a nice place where we go to to sit down and relax with visiting friends and have an icecream or coffee, and it is also nice for a rest stop and some food when you are bicycling through the lovely Drenthe province.
