Visited it with my family. There were no tours in English language, though they handed a booklet in English. Half the time we were lost in translation!

Questo è un piccolo castello privato e si trova ad un’oretta da Stoccarda. Si raggiunge in auto su una strada comoda e asfaltata. Il parcheggio è difronte e costa 2€. La visita al castello costa 4€ per gli adulti e 2€ i bambini, ma consente solo l’accesso alle parti esterne, per fare la foto della veduta del castello sul promontorio va bene. Se si vuole visitare la parte interna è possibile farlo invece solo con guida. La durata della visita è 20 minuti, le sale sono poche e piccole. Costa però 12€ per gli adulti e 6€ a bambino. La guida dopo un breve saluto in inglese, parla esclusivamente in tedesco. Ti danno con i biglietti un depliant nella tua lingua così sai di cosa parleranno.
Castello piccolo, molto suggestiva la veduta esterna, ma dal momento che è visitabile solo con guida ed a un prezzo maggiore dovrebbe esserci a mio parere almeno la possibilità di una guida che parli e descriva in inglese.

eine Burgbesichtigung ist aber ein Muß, sonst wird es bald langweilig.

A dire il vero di aquile non ne ho viste ma la posizione ed il castello mi hanno fatto venire in mente il titolo di questo famoso film anni ì70 se non ricordo male.
La posizione è incredibile si gode una vista impareggiabile, il castello è piccolino ma molto bello ed ancora splendidamente arredato. Le visito sono solo guidate con piccoli gruppi e purtroppo solo in lingua tedesca ma all'ingresso forniscono un pieghevole con le principali spiegazioni anche in italiano. Prezzo d'ingresso ragionevole per la bellezza del monumento. Poco distante c'è un comodo parcheggio che si paga solo 2 euro per tutto il giorno quindi si può lasciare l'auto dopo la visita al castello e fare escursioni. La zona è molto bella con boschi e sentieri meritevoli. Vicino ci sono anche due punti ristoro molto validi.
Se passate in zona è una tappa obbligatoria

Wir haben uns das auf dem Heimweg angeschaut und fanden es toll.Haben eine Führung gemacht und uns die Anlage angeschaut .Führungen sind alle 20 min und geht ca eine halbe Stunde.Ich fand es etwas teuer für das was man gesehen hat aber macht man ja auch nicht immer.

Het was er zo druk dat een parkeerplaats vinden een ramp was. Er zijn geen invalideparkeerplaatsen. Had je eindelijk een parkeerplaats gevonden dan stond je nog dik een uur in de rij voor de kassa. Wilde je een rondleiding door het kasteel dan moest je nog zeker een uur wachten. Het kasteel met binnenplaats is wel mooi. Het is er erg stijl dus een handbewogen rolstoel is geen doen.

Eine kleine Burg mit schöner Aussicht. Um hineinzukommen, müssen Sie an der Kasse ein Ticket mit Führung kaufen (12 € pro Erwachsener). Die Führung dauert 20 Minuten und findet jede halbe Stunde statt. Fotografieren im Inneren ist verboten. Vor der Burg gibt es einen großen Parkplatz. Die Kosten betragen 2 Euro pro Auto. Neben dem Parkplatz befindet sich ein kleines Café. Sie können es auf meinen Fotos von innen sehen. Eine Mahlzeit für zwei Personen (siehe Foto) kostet etwa 40 Euro. Die Toilette ist kostenlos.
Es ist ein schöner Ort für einen Wochenendausflug.

Schönes Ausflugsziel mit schönem Spazierweg im Wald.
Gut geeignet auch für Kinder, allerdings beim Waldweg aufpassen, da es einige ungesicherte Stellen gibt am Abhang.

Hello, does anyone know if you can view this castle and walk around it during covid-19? I understand, I may not be able to go into the castle, but can one go and take photos of the outside?
Hallo wir würden gern das Schloss besuchen, haben aber ein Baby mit 6 Monate dabei. Wie sieht es den auf dem Schloss und Außenrum aus mit Kinderwagen, kann man da gut laufen?
Außerdem interesirt uns auch ob es Wickel Möglichkeiten gibt?

The castle itself is closed in January as well as in February. You might only have a look from the outside. It is definitively worth visiting the castle even if it's closed.

Yes, there are guided tours in English at certain times of the day. There isn't much to see in the castle and the tour only took about 15-20 minutes. You can walk the rest of the property by yourself. The views are spectacular! There is also a restaurant on site in the building by the parking area and restrooms. There was also a sign for a restaurant uphill from the castle but it wasn't open when we visited. Hope this helps.

Does anyone have information on the local transportation to get to the castle? My son and I will be spending the night at Reutlingen and then taking a bus to Honau. I've read some brief descriptions of a trail to the castle that you can hike up from the base of the mountain. (Maybe a 60-90 min hike). Descriptions are vague at best. I'm trying to find out which bus # to take from Reutlingen to Honau, or at the very least - which bus stop to give off at in Honau, to begin up journey up the mountain to the castle? Any help would be greatly appreciated. We're leaving to go to Germany in 3 weeks!

Select Surrounding area
Then Hiking Routes
It has the PDF file that shows a trail from Schloss Lichtenstein to Honau...betting you can just go the other direction. States it is 1.9km and about 26 minutes.
As for the bus, google this "Short Trips from Reutlingen
Trip Five: Schloss Lichtenstein and the Source of the Echaz"...you should get a really nice PDF file that gives you bus 7606 information and other good info on this trip.
