The Botanical Garden of Lubumbashi is in no way exceptional because it is new and because you won't see more than 50 different trees and plants. The zoo, which is just behind, is much more interesting from a botanical point of view: there are much more plants, and everything is much cleaner. At the Botanical Garden, you will spot hundreds of empty plastic bottles on the ground and in a little stream that flows through it. I don't know why they don't clean that up. Another disappointing thing about this Garden is the price of the trees. The first time I went I was okay with the prices they told me, not knowing what the prices were in this part of the world. However, I later found out that the real prices were much lower than what I had been asked to pay, much lower! To give you an idea, I was asked to pay 10 dollars for most trees, after bargaining for a few minutes. At another tree nursery (Regine's), I paid the same trees 2.5 dollars, without bargaining. My advice? Visit once only if you have time, avoid buying trees and plants here unless they are the only one in town to have the particular species you are looking for, don't expect too much.

Le Jardin botanique de Lubumbashi se trouve derrière le célèbre zoo. Il n'est pas exceptionnel parce qu'il est tout récent : les arbres prennent du temps à pousser. Il date de 2010. Le guide s'appelle Gaylord. Il connaît le nom de tous les arbres et de toutes les plantes de la région. L'entrée coûte 5.000 francs (2,5 dollars) par personne. Il y a une petite buvette qui sert quelques sucrés (sodas) et quelques bières. Il y a aussi et surtout une pépinière où vous pouvez acheter arbres et plantes. Les prix sont raisonnables. Je vous conseille cette visite, tout en vous rappelant qu'il ne faut pas s'attendre à monts et merveilles.
