This is a superb micropub on the main street in Rothbury. There is a decent selection of real ales, a couple of ciders and wine / spirits. The decor is slightly quirky with what looks like train or bus seats and it has a good atmosphere. Definitely recommended.

A super little pub with a great range of real ales and gins. Made to feel welcome from the moment we came through the door - both by the staff and customers. A must-do in any visit to Rothbury.

I was actually staying in the flat above The Narrow Nick but, not being the drinker I once was, I only popped in the once. However, it made a good impression. The small, modern bar is friendly and serves a good range of beers. The convivial but civilised nature of the venue is borne out by the fact that, during my time staying above, the noise levels from the bar only ever reached that of companionable chatter.
I would say this is a bar at which to meet and drink beer - full-stop. Food, if available at all, is not a major part of the ethos. However, I did hear a live concert going on one evening. Sounded like one man, a guitar, a flute and a penny whistle - he was actually very good, even through the floor-boards!

I confess, we only called in here because we parked outside whilst visiting the co-op but am so glad we did! From the moment we walked in we were made to feel welcome. The drinks were reasonably priced and the bus seats were a really quirky touch which amused us as my husband used to work in transport. Because it's such a small place everyone was chatting and the atmosphere was so friendly. The fact that it was dog friendly was an added bonus and the one dog that did arrive while we were there was very warmly welcomed by everyone.

I think that it was in George Orwell's "The Road to Wigan Pier" where he mentions a mythical pub called "The Moon Under Water" - It reads as pub perfection in every way, so much so that I went looking for it once in Salford to no avail. The "Nick" is on a similar lever, great friendly staff (5 visits in one week), the best local beers and a right friendly place. Beer prices are cheap mainly because the landlord picks it up himself from local breweries. The others pubs in the town are poor and vert expensive. Can't recommend enough.

On holiday close by so when we visited Rothbury we popped in for a drink, good beers, good staff and friendly atmosphere, they have live music some nights which being a small pub must be lively, this is what you hope to find in a small place like this, grab a sandwich from the Co- Op next door and spend all night in the pub..... what more could one want.

Called in early evening. Good range of beers and gin. Sat on the bus seats around the outside of the pub. place was busy definatley worth a visit

Fab pub right in the middle of the High St, excellent choice of beers, cider and spirits.

Good fun bar with guest beer from local microbrewery sources. Ex bus seats are novel but may prove uncomfortable over a long session. My end of barrel beer was changed without query. Beer can go off so the lack of argument was refreshing.

Visited here on a recent holiday to Northumberland. Friendly welcome as we entered and a great choice of beers. Comfortable surroundings and we spent a few happy hours here. Would return in a heartbeat if and when back in the area.
