The museum has a marklin store, a huge model railroad layout, a floor on the history of the brand and factory tour. Given an iPad in your language, it is easy to navigate.

Wir (36m, 32w, 6w, 4m) haben hier einen sehr schönen und für alle 4 faszinierenden Nachmittag verbracht. Wenn man an der Historie der Marke Märklin und Modellbahn generell Interesse hat, lohnt es sich auf jeden Fall!

A fascinating place for model train enthusiasts. Although we were there on a day that the factory was not working, it was still worth seeing, and buying great trains and accessories. The exhibit is very worthwhile. We had some extra time, and had lunch in their small coffee shop. It was ok, but nothing special. The store and museum are worth the detour from the main autobahn.

Ritorni bambino. È una installazione veramente eccezzionale. Il grande plastico contiene una grande quantità di trenini in movimento. Gallerie, viadotti, stazione, persone, fabbriche, c'è pure un porto. Il suggestivo paesaggio cambia pure tra giorno e notte, le luci si accendono e tutto diventa ancora più suggestivo. Merita sicuramente una visita. Soldi del biglietto ben spesi.

This is the new museum for Maerklin. I have been to the old one too. This one is very well thought out. Has a lot of trains as expected, also very interesting history boards. 2 floors of trains old and new, also a virtual reality for the kids to play with. My grand kids a great time with it. There's a store and a cafeteria.

Good little Museum if your into Model trains ….
Otherwise not really really that much to offer.
Museum is over 3 floors & costs €10
1) Fantastic Ho layout in basement covering 200 m2 (I would estimate)
2) history of toys from companies pre Márklin, mostly tin plate
3) history of Márklin / Minitrix etc products, and the opportunity to briefly view the production line.
There is also a free to enter large shop stocking only Márklin / Minitrix products, plus some other scenic accessories by Noch / Faller etc. and a small cafe.
Otherwise not really really that much to offer.

The museum nicely shows the history of Märklin. You can really get a sense of how they started, how they and their products evolved over the last 160+ years and the challenges they have faced on the way. There are a lot of exhibit pieces, some of which are very rare and special, which complement the info panels with the company's history. It is interesting to see how many different things Märklin used to make.
The layout is also very nice. It's quite big and very detailed. I like that it switches from night to day every few minutes - night mode is really quite different and it's amazing to see all the lights in the houses. There is an expansion planned where trains from eras V and on will run. What is currently visible to the visitor is finished - there just aren't any newer trains to see. I think that the layout is still very impressive and worth seeing. It is also not hidden behind glass, which is often the case, which is very nice.
The museum shop also offers a wide variety of products from different manufacturers, not just Märklin, so you can get a lot of supplies for your layout here.
