We spent a very enjoyable afternoon at Nutbourne. The vineyard and surrounding countryside are beautiful. The self directed tour around the vineyard was great with lots of interesting info provided about vines and the wine making process. I would highly recommend the picnic (with Bacchus) which was delicious and filled with fresh produce. All the people who worked there were friendly and knowledgeable. We look forward to returning.

What a lovely find. Pitch up to try some wines (for a great price by the glass) and learn a lot about their beautiful vineyard. Sip away from the balcony of their windmill or on a comfy sofa inside.

Perfect when you combine with a walk around the vineyard! The Bacchus is a new favourite and saw us through Christmas!

From start to finish this was a wonderful vineyard experience. A beautiful location and fantastic hospitality. Having the family who own the vineyard show you round gave it such a wonderful quality. Great wines and such a delicious picnic overlooking the stunning scenery. A wonderful day!

Nutbourne is a truly lovely vineyard, an estate run by a family that clearly have a passion for good sustainable wine.

The passion from Peter and Bridget and the whole team is fabulous. Book a tour, book a picnic hamper for lunch and enjoy this beautiful Sussex vineyard.

We booked this tour as a reunion for a few friends because we were staying in the Arundel area. I chose Nutbourne because they do sparkling, red and white and it seemed most interesting. As it turns out, there are a few more reasons for choosing it. They grow and process everything start to finish - from growing vines to labelling their bottles. And it's all family run. They are so passionate about what they do and their wines taste great too. A storming pinot noir (never had one like this is UK before) and the bubbles and white were lovely too! I really enjoyed touring around their land and seeing some of the very old vines. Seeing and understanding how vines are cultivated and then moving on into the area where they make their wine. There's a beautiful windmill on site that you can climb for a brilliant view. The thing that really made this tour stand out for me were the people. Peter Gladwin is very passionate and exceptional at telling the story in a way that makes sense for all rather than going into technical jargon that you can get in other vineyards. He brought everything to life in an energetic and approachable way and we loved his original equipment - some of it from 1960s France. Fascinating. At the end we bought a recipe book (as well as some wine obviously....) and it was so lovely that he made a special effort to follow us to the car to add his signature (which we'd asked for but he's been a bit flat out the time). One thing I would say is leave plenty of time - it's such a beautiful place. We could have had a picnic there but hadn't decided to do that. If the weather is good I can't think of a better place to picnic and would do that next time! I bet their food is fab.

If I could give Nutbourne more than 5 stars I absolutely would. We visited as a group of late 20s/early 30s for a hen party - even before we arrived the staff were so friendly, helpful and communicative. They helped me book transport to and from the train station and also catered for specific dietary requirements in our group. We arrived on Saturday to a lovely welcome from the owner who introduced us to our guide for our private tour, Robin. We had welcome tea, coffee and delicious homemade cake in the tasting lodge which has he most beautiful views of the vineyard. Robin showed us round the massive vineyards, was so friendly, knowledgable, answered all of our millions of questions. He was chatty and casual, had an amazing knowledge of the vineyard and wine itself but the whole tour never once felt like a lecture or that he was reading from a script and covering old ground (I've been on tours before that have felt exactly that and it feels a bit monotonous and frankly, boring). We absolutely loved walking around the beautiful grounds and then Robin showed us inside the barn where all of the wine is made. He made sure we had drinks in hand and explained the actual juicing and bottling process which again is something I've never experienced on tours before so we loved that. The tasting was so generous, no thimbles of wine in sight and Robin let us form our own opinions of each wine, never pushing us to like anything and he let us have a drop more of anything we particularly loved. The tour and tasting usually takes about 2-2.5 hours and we comfortably spent more than 3 (and could have happily spent longer) enjoying the beautiful views, chatting away to Robin and sipping on lovely wine. We ordered a few of the picnic hampers and calling it a picnic does not do it justice whatsoever. The food was absolutely delicious, so incredibly fresh and tasty and fantastic value for money considering how much we got. We ended up spending over 4 hours in total at the vineyard and we could have easily spent a few more hours had we not pre-booked a train back into London. Our entire group then spent the evening talking non stop about how much we'd enjoyed our day. Beautiful setting, generous wine tasting, delicious food, the most welcoming owners and just make sure you ask for Robin as he was truly brilliant. I'll definitely be back as it was perfect for a hen party but would be a perfect day out for couples and also as a treat for my mum.

Although officially closed, when we rang and asked to visit, we were told we could come down, and even though they wouldn't be able to donate proper tour and tasting, they would do what they could. We met Olivia, who really could not have been more welcoming and friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. The wines are very pleasant, we bought ten or so bottles between us, and would like to say thank you.

A fascinating insight into the history of the vineyard and the varieties of grapes used, followed by an interesting tasting from Irene.
