This is an extensive museum about the economic life of this part of Sussex. It is sited in a former lime production site.We were able to have a ride on a lovely old bus, which took us round the site, followed by a ride on a little train.
There is a cafe and shop. It was quite busy on a warm sunny Saturday, but as the museum covers a large area, it did t feel crowded.If you like old machinery and to understand industrial processes, this is the museum for you.

The museum has a vast range of exhibitions from telecoms to glass making, cobblers to fire engines. There is something for everyone here.
We visited on a Saturday and it was a shame that the vast majority (probably 90 percent) of exhibitions were not operating.
The museum ultimately relies on many, many volunteers however few were working on our visit.
Although the exhibitions do provide a degree of interest, there would be much more if the exhibitions are working and you can speak to the volunteers with their knowledge.
I would go again, however would wait for one of their event days

I cannot express how wonderful this place really is. I enjoy museums and thought a couple of hours then onto Parham House. We arrived 10ish and are still here gone 3pm. There is so much to see and do, to remind one of one's younger days in such a variety of ways. Jump onto a 1930s bus or the rickety bumpy train.
Enjoy a magnificent lunch (pork salad with loads of meat and half a dozen roast potatoes) for less than a tenner for the main course, afternoon tea with cakes and biscuits. Wonderful volunteers who look after the exhibits. I only wish the walking stick man was here so I could buy one. Be warned, there's 32 acres so expect to be tired. Still going and expect to finish just before 4:30, when it closes.

Haven't been for many years,but decided to visit with a friend who is also interested in industrial heritage and history apart from a few exhibits not open due to lack of volunteers what a wonderful and thoroughly enjoyable day A little gem in the heart of the South downs and well worth a visit.

First time going
Was really good lots to do and very interesting
Needs some bits doing but it all takes money keeping old stuff up together
Nice day out especially if your into history but interesting for children

We had a fantastic day out at Amberley museum. There are so many things to do there and the whole place was very clean and well cared for. We were there for more than 4 hours. There are plenty of very knowledgable staff and volunteers who clearly care about the museum. I would recommend it to everyone.

This was a thoroughly enjoyable visit to see many interesting exhibitions and allow the children to explore the grounds. Despite being 3 years old and not really old enough to take a lot of the info in, they still found it really interesting and enjoyed the train and bus journeys around the site. We had some really useful information provided at the start by a member of staff explaining how to navigate the museum. Will def be back!

Great value , host Ken was so helpful with all the other staff too who are so knowledgeable at the museum. So much to see and do and the admission to get in with families was so reasonable and so much to do and great fun 🤩

Oui, le musée est ouvert du 10 au 12 mai. Nous organisons une mini-exposition le samedi 12 et un salon des véhicules commerciaux le dimanche 13 mai. Nous avons notre propre café sur place, mais il y a aussi de bons pubs à quelques pas du musée. Le musée est ouvert de 10h à 17h. Adultes £ 12.50, enfants £ 7. Sincères amitiés.

Most of our events are hosted on a weekend. We do not have any event planned on the Friday 22nd June, but on the Sat 23rd and Sun 24th June it is our Emergency Services Weekend. The museum itself has plenty to see on a standard open day.

it is £10.50 for a senior to explore the whole Museum. everything included, although they welcome donations in some areas.

Are dogs still welcome at the attraction? we have a well behaved Irish Water Spaniel. if they are still welcome are there any restricted areas?

Yes absolutely! We are the proud recipients of the Kennel Club "Most dog friendly day out" 2016 award. We ask that dogs except guide dogs stay outside our restaurant but we have plenty of outside seating where there is a water bowl for their refreshment.

A lot of information can be found on our website on the "visit us" tab and then "accessibility information".
Generally speaking and during the main season disabled visitors pay standard prices and carers (one per visitor) can come in free, but this might vary for pre-bookable ticketed events in (best to email or phone the office).
Exhibitors at our vehicle events can let us know in advance if they are blue badge holders and we will do our best to park them in a suitable place.
