Particular location of the Park, in the context of the station and in five well organized freight cars. Very rich documentation, films, objects, photos and beautiful reconstruction of the Milanese studio of the Poet.

Una bellissima e inaspettata esperienza.Se si va a Roccalumera per tuffarsi nel suo mare cristallino, è un vero peccato non immergersi per qualche ora nella conoscenza della vita e delle opere di Salvatore Quasimodo visitando il parco letterario a lui dedicato. Reso ancora più emozionante dalla passione e dalle conoscenze di chi te lo racconta.

This museum is about Salvatore Quasimodo and his life and art. You can watch a video from the Nobel price event in Stockholm 1959 when he won the price for his deeply human, original and innovative poetry. The museum have a lot of photos from his private and public life. One of the photos is of a particular meeting between him and his ageing father, embracing each other warmly when Salvatore Quasimodo came to Roccalumera to visit after he was awarded the Nobel price.
Here you can walk around in his studio, moved from his house in Milano to his hometown here. His bookshelves are full of interesting poetry and lyrics. The museum has made an interesting documentation centre in three railway wagons, a context made as a hommage to the family's long traditions as railway staff. The guide we met spoke very good English and we were met with warm enthusiasm and learned a lot about Quasimodo, his life in Sicily, in Italy and also about his international succsess. When in Roccalumera, it is a 'must' to visit this place. It will add art, poetry and human warmth to your stay.

Bellissima esperienza in compagnia della giovane guida Federico ed, eccezionalmente, del figlio del poeta Alessandro, presente solo pochi giorni l'anno a Roccalumera. La visita si è snodata fra il parco letterario Quasimodo e la torre Saracena. Per prenotare la visita occorre telefonare (numeri indicati su un cartello all'ingresso della Torre Saracena). Assolutamente lodevole l'impegno della famiglia di Federico nel mantenere viva, con preziosi documenti e testimonianze, la memoria del poeta.

La costa Ionica messinese è piena di gioielli e meraviglie. Una di queste si trova a Roccalumera, grazioso paesino dove è possibile visitare il parco letterario Salvatore Quasimodo, all'interno dell'ex stazione ferroviaria. Il parco è ben gestito da volontari con una grandissima passione e in particolare ringraziamo la nostra giovane guida Federico. Abbiamo avuto la possibilità di incontrare Alessandro, il figlio del grande poeta Premio Nobel che ha arricchito, con i suoi aneddoti, la nostra già interessante visita. Grazie mille per la bellissima esperienza! È nostro dovere sostenere e condividere la realtà dei parchi letterari locali. Consiglio vivamente la visita.

I was led to visit this "Literary Park" after last summer I visited the birthplace of the poet Salvatore Quasimodo in Modica.
On that occasion I had learned that the poet was born in Modica "by chance", because in fact his family was from Roccalumera, and here he actually lived the years of his youth and returned several times. So Roccalumera is the hub of a network of places linked to Quasimodo, a network that also includes Modica and other cities in northern and central Italy.
At the end of the visit, I find that the site has been well organized and effectively renders the and the personality of the poet. The young man who led the explanation is competent and thorough without being pedantic. He belongs to the Mastroeni family, that is, that of the two brothers from Roccalumera who, moved by intellectual passion, have been engaged for decades in this meritorious enterprise of enhancing their illustrious fellow citizen.
In Roccalumera, the centerpiece of the "Literary Park" focuses on the premises of the railway station, on the premises of the former freight yard and on the so-called "Torre Saracena" (we visited the first two places). The bulk of the exhibition at the moment is concentrated in the premises of the station. This is still functional, but as an unstaffed stop and therefore the rooms of the station once used to control train traffic have been rented out for the exhibition.
Overall, the exhibition seemed to me to be a relevant example not only of illustration of the figure and work of a famous scholar, but also of the intellectual passion and civicness of the organizers.

Esperienza eccezionale in tutti i sensi: ad accompagnarci nel percorso del parco il preparatissimo Federico e, in via straordinaria, nientemeno che il Alessandro Quasimodo, figlio dell’illustre poeta! Oltre al ricco materiale espositivo (foto, libri, scritti, oggetti), abbiamo inoltre apprezzato il racconto di prima mano di alcuni episodi della vita della famiglia del poeta. Location originale e molto azzeccata se si pensa all’influenza che le stazioni ferroviarie hanno avuto sulla famiglia del poeta.

La Sicilia, la sua storia, la sua cultura, il suo PREMIO NOBEL. Il parco è carico so dettagli, la nostra carinissima guida è stata eccellente e preparatissima.
Se siete qui in vacanza vale la pena passare un'ora e mezza tra ciò che rappresenta la Sicilia e la sicilinita. Un fiore all'occhiello che andrebbe sicuramente valorizzato di più dagli enti pubblici!
