It was an amazing archaeological site worth a couple of hours of your time. The explanations on plaques was very helpful. Could have better signage within the site to guide you so make sure you see it all.

Deler område og billet med museet samt teateret i Epidauros. De mange funktioner i denne by for tilbedelse og helbredelse gør at besøget nemt tager 1-2 timer for at komme rundt. Husk at medbringe vand for der er intet til salg når man har passeret billetsalget.
Bygningerne er ca. 2400 år gamle. Det kan anbefales at læse op på det hele inden. Der uddeles ikke et kort ved indgangen og der er ingen ruter markeret i området, men der er tavler med beskrivelser ved de enkelte bygninger.

We drove our rental car 60 km south along the coast from our Corinth hotel arriving at 9 AM. After paying $13 each, we took a self tour of this 1988 UNESCO sanctuary devoted to healing. The small museum had many local statues/sculptures and a large stone tablet that accounted for the expenses of building the 4th C BC temple. A short climb acquired the huge Theater with 34 rows of sculpted seats but a longer walk was needed to see the main area of the sanctuary, almost all in ruins; a large Banquet Hall, Temple remnants, Stadium, Dormitory and many more ruins with detailed descriptions.
Because we had studied the Wikipedia information earlier, our visit was completed in 1 hour.

This site could be considered the foundation of modern medicine. It applied a holistic approach to medicine which included several aspects of healing such as surgical intervention, the spiritual, as well as diet, exercise, and relaxation.
Much of the site is in ruins, but you can still see the hospital complex, the temples, the sports and exercise areas, and the theater.

Moet ooit prachtig geweest zijn maar er rest nu weinig van. De geschiedenis ervan (één van de 1e ziekenhuizen) is wel interessant om lezen. Ligt op dezelfde site als het schitterende theater en daarom zeker de moeite om er eens rond te wandelen op het grote terrein in deze prachtige omgeving

All the ancient site of Epidauros is worth visiting, but at the sanctuary of Asklepios we felt really calm and peaceful, as if the Asklepios's healing gifts touched us. I highly recommend it!

Asklepios - the Healing, Medicine God in ancient Greece was a very strong cult those days back in 4c BC.
A whole city emerged around the healing sources of Argolis plains - residential areas, sport complex, baths, hospitals and of course the main attraction - the Epidaurus theater, as well the Temples to Artemis and Asklepios.
The site is pretty vast and along the way are plaques explaining what it was. Seeing the site first you'll figure out how important it was and why exactly here the best theater was built.

HI Ron,
There is English information -- rather extensive-- on placards. No headphones that I saw, nor did I see tour guides available on site. We pre-booked a guide through our hotel. She lives in Napfoli and met us there. I'm usually not much of a tour guide person, but this is an exception.
Have fun. It's an amazing place.
