Im afraid I cannot answer your question as we stayed in a Cottage in the grounds as we have two dogs. As was said the Hotel is dated but has an olde world charm about it. We ate in The Hotel and found the food excellent with plenty of choice and as we were there for the New Year celebrations it was fabulous in the Marquee
It is a fixed price menu ~£25. Given the small size of the hotel and the price point, I found the food pretty good. It is well presented and I liked the traditional, semi formal but relaxed environment of the restaurant. We were there for two nights and I found my choices a little bland for my taste on the first night and excellent on the second. I believe they have small smokery and their smoked duck and smoked haddock extremely good. I never tried the bar meals. If you have a young family or prefer the wider choice and familiar staples of restaurant chains, it may not be an ideal choice.
