Our family was staying at Villa 2. It can accommodate 6 people very comfortably. Very clean & nicely set up villa. A very suitable environment for someone who wants to spend a few days of relaxing. Built in the middle of a 5-acres well-grown coconut grove, the villas and rooms are located in a very quiet environment.There is a well maintained swimming pool and the beach is about 100 meters away from the pool. It has a small but very friendly staff and they are very flexible in providing the service you need. They have a limited menu and orders must be placed in advance.The food is delicious. Considering the overalls it is well worth what you pay.

We were ever so impressed by the tranquil surroundings of being on a large coconut farm right next to a private beach! The place also surprised us with a very modern Infinity Pool The accommodation was a bungalow inside a Villa. All the basics were there! The also very notable plus was the Sri Lankan chef who made delicious meals everyday! Our favourites were the coconut rottis with curry and the fresh fish at dinner (from a wharf just one cove away!) Very tranquil place.... perfect for meditation or yoga...or just a digital disconnect! :-)

This is a copy of what I did for booking.coWe were the only residents in this secluded hotel on the beach with an infinity pool between the rooms and the sea. Lovely big room with fridge and kettle,, fabulous staff and the chef Shiva is an outstanding cook. We had breakfast and dinner there on 4 nights - so many amazingly cooked vegetables (with meat or fish also very good). It's a place to do nothing, tho the staff are constantly working on managing and farming the land and working on some of the facilities. Take what you need (eg tonic water) as it's a few km of bumpy road that you wouldn't want to drive too often. They've almost finished a villa on site with stunning views, worth going back to. Also it's very easy to communicate with the owner!

Liked The activities around the property were great such as Dolphin watching which was awesome. Shri did his best to accommodate but there is a lot of miscommunication between management.
NOT LIKED 1. I booked Villa2 which stated “entire holiday home” but this was not the case when I checked-in. The above section of Villa2 was rented out to some locals who were drunk. I reported to the management and I was told that they would leave but did not leave until 8pm. Which was not acceptable. 2. You have to pay for electricity. The excuse was that it is to promote being environmentally friendly. Which I think is a scam to use such an excuse. There are so many plastic bottles near the property beach. Why don’t “Majestic Beach Retreat” promote help clean the beach and help in that way rather than use the electricity as a lame excuse to rip more money of the customer. 3. The locals are been greeted by a local person and the rest (booking.com) reservation are handled by the Yoga teacher. There is so much miscommunication between the staff that there is no direction on what is the true answer. 4. Some of the Rooms (1st room and the living room) the lights do not work and the staff are aware of it but did not let the guest know about the issues until we made a complaint. There is a strong WIFI but internet does not work because either the bill has not been paid or the connection has been disabled by the provider. The funny thing is I had to use my phone connection to convert USD to Rupees. What a joke to pay the bill for the management. They don’t even have money to give you the correct change.
Disliked · NOT LIKED CONTINUED from above 5. We went for dinner and we were told they have fresh fish from the morning. When we said can we have a look at the catch, The fish were frozen and the fish had slight cuts that indicated it was some left-over fish from some other function to be redone. Why would you freeze a catch of the day till dinner anyway? The fish looked so old it looked like dry fish. I know how fresh fish looks like. Not sure how they asses a guest understanding in freshness. So please beware if you order any fish from them, check it thoroughly or demand to check. 6. On the dinner topic we ordered some portions but at the final bill I was charged twice even though the cost was not that significant. 7. At checkout, I was charged the full room charged even though I explained that part of Villa2 was used by some other guest (Specially 4 drunk guys). The management cannot do anything about it or amend any prices or even get hold of the owner. I could go on forever but I will be kind and rest my case here. I would NOT recommend Majestic Beach Retreat to any of my friends, clients, business or even social media as the standard is poor unless you are a basic traveler who want to overpay for service that does not work. I did speak to all the staff working there as they have no authority to do anything. Looks like the owner has no empathy or doing better with reviews. The owner purely wants to make money with minimal renovation as they do not care how run down the property is. I really feel sad for the people who work there as this could have been a potential gold mine. Anyway, this is my honest two cents and I did inform the staff that will review on my stay not to take it personally. Not sure how this property has score of 9 on booking.com as I believe it should be around 5 not more than that unless the owner calls me and exaplain WHY
