Located at Queen Charlotte’s west end, and adjacent to the cemetery, Haydn Turner Campground features 8 sheltered RV sites + 2 walk-in tent sites, picnic tables, fire pits, loop trail, and a couple of pit toilets. In short, it’s a basic and rustic experience at moderate cost: The RV sites are $20 per day while the tenting sites are $15 per day. I guess that’s fair value because the scenery – especially along the pebbly beach – is stunning. To enjoy it, just take any of the access trails onto the black shale beach and experience the panoramic views of Bearskin Bay. The trail is approximately 1 kilometer long and basically circles the campground. On clear days, Sleeping Beauty is visible in the background. It’s a nice walk and complements the rest of the site’s amenities well. That said, I kind of struggle with staying next to a cemetery. There’s just something rather macabre about it. What if there’s suddenly a zombie apocalypse? ;) A note of caution: At low tide, the sandy beach is visible. I wouldn’t recommend walking down to it as it’s quite “sinky” and you might get stuck!…
