We arranged to do the most difficult hike: El Salto del Angel y la Cueva de los Guacharos. We had been in contact with the representative of the tour agency prior to arriving in Jardin. From the beginning we were very clear in our desires to do a difficult hike since we are experienced trekkers. The night before the hike we were told that we would be the only ones; to our surprise the following day we found ourselves in a group with 4 extra people who had different fitness levels. Additionally, we found out that some of the group members were given a discount since it was a group while we never received this treatment. We do not appreciate this type of dishonesty and would have preferred to have all the correct information from the beginning in order to make an informed decision for a quite overpriced hike. There are other tour operators in town who offer the same service so if you prefer to be told the truth go with another operator. The hike itself is very beautiful and highly recommended.…
We loved our trip with Ecotours to the coffee finca of Maria and Andreas, just out of Jardin. Our guide Wilmar, who had great English , provided us with a lot of fascinating background information about Jardin and coffee production in the Andes. Ándelas and Maria were wonderful warm hosts giving us a real insight into the coffee producing process. Lunch, cooked by Maria, was super delicious. We would highly recommend this worthwhile and enjoyable tour.
The hotel is right on the church plaza so you can be part of whatever is going on in the plaza. And usually there's lots! From the hotel balcony you can see people sit in the square at little tables to have beverages including coffee, beer, etc, snacks or meals. In the evenings, food stands go up and it's like a fiesta. There are even rides for little children. Sometimes you see men exercise their horses for a competition. The hotel is quaint with beautiful rooms, a wrap around balcony with chairs or rockers. The shower water was sometimes cold and we could hear some child screeching in the early morning but we loved this place anyway. What a beautiful and quaint town!
This family hotel has the best view of the park in town. They have 4 rooms, 3 of which connect with porches outside. There are well-equipped kitchen and washing machine that guests can use. From the room to the shared space, the whole place is very clean and well-maintained. Juan, the owner, showed us his great hospitality, generosity and kindness. My spanish is very poor, but he’s always very patient to try to communicate through translation app. Whenever we needed help, he always provided it at his best. Andres, who is working there, has been also very kind and helpful, and he could speak English:) Jardin is the most beautiful and peaceful town I’ve ever been, and this hotel made me feel like home. We stayed there for 7 weeks!
