i stayed this xmas and it was BAD, the worst xmas hoilday ever in this motel, I HAVE MANY PHOTOS TO BACK ME UP... 1, mould in main room, on back of curtains.. 2. very very out dated, couch from the 1950s, oven and micowave 1970s, and fridge 3. wiring for tv bad no children friendly, hit the wall and lose tv channels, (CANT EVEN GET CHANNEL TWO, OH MY GOD ITS TV2 WHO CANT GET THAT) 4. the main bed rock hard, floor was more comfy, 5. extra bed was ripped in corners on the base. 6, oven was not clean at all since the 1950s lol.. 7. found a used plaster in couch 8. the plug didnt work on oven for the micowave.. 9. two of the window laches were broken, we had to get a screw driver and fix it as it was in kids room and on the main road. 10. the kids play ground was on the very top and was not child friendly 11.the spa was dirty, with bits of dirty or bark in it. WHAT WAS GOOD 1, cheap 2. table and chairs in front , was nice to relax in 3. clean towel and beach every day 4. owners were lovely 5. under cover parking. 6. close to every thing, was in walking distance to beach and public pool IF YOU LIKE TO LIVE CLEAN DONT STAY HERE......…

I was satisfied with the motel. From what I've seen in New Zealand, this certainly is above average. The room had a good heater and I had a comfortable stay. It was clean, everything was working properly. Included kitchen with stove, fridge, microwave, etc.

We have recently stayed at the Caroline Motels and while it is obvious that they are in the process of being renovated, we found our unit to be very very cold and dated, we had major issues with the lack of lighting, in the lounge and bedrooms. There were simply a number of little things that were not up to standard. However on the positive, the bathroom was excellent and had obviously recently been updated. While it may have initially seemed inexpensive, we felt that it was expensive for what it was. Would not recommend at all.

We had to stay in Timaru during a road trip. Firstly if you are planning to stay in Timaru but don't really have a reason to - I would suggest not coming! It isn't one of New Zealands treasures! Anyway this motel wasn't great BUT looking at the other motels on the road, I don't think it would have been any worse than the others. Very dated. Furnishings all look to be from the 1960's. Bed was uncomfortable, we had to move matress onto the floor. The noise from the road is very loud - and the road that runs outside is pretty much the busiest on the South Island - therefore if you wanted to sleep late I imagine this would be a problem. Bathroom was very old, shower spat water rather than an even flow. This really wasn't a comfortable or pleasant experience BUT I think you will be limited to for choice in Timaru as we only saw one decent looking motel about a mile down the road. In fairness it is a cheap motel and doesn't pretend to be anything else. I would only stay here a. If you have to stop in Timaru b. You are on a tight budget …
