This is a residential hotel, not a 5-star glitz. No meals at all on premises.
With that as a target market, it is on the top, and we are very glad we stayed here. The room was spacious (though I bumped my head more than once on the steep and low roof beams). The owner checked regularly if everything was OK, and responded instantly whenever we asked for anything.
We even had our laundry done twice (the day we arrived, and again a week later the day before we left), When we asked what we owed for that, she said "nothing." That was a nice way to end the stay too.
The location is a short 10 minute walk to town, and is right on the ocean. Close enough to town that we walked there daily, yet far enough away not to be bothered by the noise there. (One woman we met who stayed downtown said the noise kept her awake until past midnight most nights)

I stayed at Hanana's little piece of Heaven with a group of friends 2 years ago. We were treated like Royalty, yet also felt like old family friends. One of my best travel experiences ever. Highly recommended!!

We travelled to the middle of nowhere, literally and landed in this comfortable home where we were made to feel like kings and queens! Not a five star hotel, but a five star experience! Nothing can prepare you for a place like this and I would not hesitate to recommend to anyone. There's a kitchen for the nights you want to prepare your own meals, they clean the house for you, and even do your laundry. Loved it!

easter island has been on my bucket list since i bought thor hyerdahl's book with newspaper route money. yet it wouldn't have been one of my best trips (and i've been to over 60 countries) if it wasn't for Hanana and her guest house, and the advice i got to go during the annual festival (about Feb each year) of Tapati.
Hanana is an easter island native, who married an american Seabee building the US shuttle emergency landing strip, lived in the us for thirty ears, got divorced and returned. She now lives with Joseph, the ex-Governor of easter island, and runs her guest house. We like to participate when we find something like Tapati, rather than watch, so when we told Hanana we wanted to take the ceremonial mud bath and dress up for the dance and parade she said "get into the pickup". She knew just where to take us, and her connections got us in everything (its not a tourist event). Her daughter Toni was a charming, knowledgable guide who showed us the notable statue installations.
The house with 4 small bedrooms (for 7 of us) was clean, an easy walk to town, and just what we needed.
If we hadn't gone during Tapati, it would have only taken a few days to see all the statues we needed. the island was created a bleak eco disaster, has no beaches of note, and except for the festival the people dress like all other chileans. The Rapa Nui built 880 statues, but they are all similar and most were tipped face down into the earth during the tribal wars/cannibalsm.
