We camped here in our class B van for a couple nights at the end of April since we had heard it was open even though the website stated it was not. We took a chance and found a couple of site open. Most all the campground is on a hill so finding a fairly level site was difficult. The best part about this campground is the view of Mount Whitney above and the ability to hike the nearby trail leading up to the Whitney Portal. Lone Pine creek runs along the side of the campground and can be a good place to fish if you find a nice pool and if recently planted. While I saw a few small trout in the creek they were elusive. The pit toilets were relatively clean and there we some freshwater spigots throughout the campground. The sites were rather tight and adjacent neighbors very close by. There was a camp host on site and firewood available for sale. Cell/data coverage was pretty limited and could tell when others were using bandwidth.…

Prachtige kleine camping met ruime plekken zonder aansluitingen. Zorg voor je eigen voorzieningen, geen douches op de camping. Uitzicht op gebergte in Yosemite. Op voorhand reserveren, bij aankomst staat op een plattegrond welke plek voor je gereserveerd is. Prima overnachtingsplek op doorreis van Yosemite naar Las Vegas.

De camping is eerder specifiek voor hikers die mt Whitney willen beklimmen. De camping ligt nl nogal ver van het dorpje Lone pine zelf, er is geen elektriciteit en enkel op één plaats water. De wc's waren proper, berenlockers zijn voorzien, en het uitzicht is wel adembenemend. Best enkel boeken voor mt Whitney, andere hikes zijn er niet echt.

Situé sur les hauteurs de Lone Pine et au pied de montagnes...Cet endroit nous a révélé tout son charme...Soleils couchants, bruit de la rivière glacée, écureuil au petit déjeuner, emplacement isolé...Tout a fonctionné pour nous...camping le plus sympa de notre séjour...

hidden in a small gorge, this small camping is nice and quiet, places are secluded. From the campgournd you can take a walking trail up to Whitney Portal (campground) a 7 km hike up and down… Beautifull sunsets
