501 RV/TENT PARK (Sandspit) - Đánh giá Khu cắm trại & So sánh giá

This is a lovely little campground across the street from the beach. We stayed for 12 days while visiting friends in Sandspit - $25/night for electricity and water is very affordable. The owner keeps everything neat and tidy - flush toilet, coin shower, coin laundry, a fridge with small freezer for campers to use - a room to keep food in....fantastic value!

501 campsite Haida Gwaii

Called to make a reservation -very friendly and informative owner. It offers several extras that are hard to find anywhere else on the islands eg fridge, microwave, coin showers, flush toilets and laundry - and it's close to the ocean!

In town camping

Stayed here overnight before meeting our kayak group. Very basic setup, a large grassed area at back of the property. No gravel pad for vehicles, but we were in a mini van sleeping in the back so didn't care. Moved a wood picnic table closer to our vehicle. No fire pit. Walk 100m to bathroom. Laundry is available. Some RV's and tents looked semi permanant, used by crews doing work on the island. Dead quiet as pretty much zero road traffic at night. Very reasonable price. Best option for intown, a few km walk to grocery store along the unbusy road.

3/5 ouch! Concerns? Very basic setup? (Basics = coin shower, coin laundry, flush toilet, fridge-tiny freezer, microwave, garbage cans, grassy sites, across from the beach, in town, picnic tables (7 more purchased this year), full services at each 15amp and 30amp pull thru sites, grassy unserviced sites with water tap and picnic tables nearby, fire pit on the beach) No gravel pad? (I prefer grass –easier to mow and grass grew over gravel yearly so couldn't afford to maintain – the ground settles unevenly under grass and gravel and no gravel is tracked into your camper) Picnic table not at site? (solution is to pick a site where the picnic tables are located rather than damage tables by moving them even closer to you (big 'no no' on my few rules on back of the receipt) – bought more now and chained them down because a good spot for one camper is the worst spot for the next) No fire pit? (wind always blowing off ocean and neighbours like to keep windows open in summer so campfire smoke all day is not pleasant – also would like to keep my 2 acres of forest at back not burned down – can go to beach across the road for fire pits) Walking 100m to toilet? (at least it flushes - free campgrounds out of town have pit toilets more than 100m away) – after all, you are roughing it & camping, so a little walk is good for you. RVs/Tents looked semi-permanent? (had a work crew for the season otherwise they would not be able to afford to work here and pay a mortgage at home too. This campground would have many vacancies without them – only people going on tours or needing services stay overnight.) Best option in town? (the ONLY option in town with many conveniences at one location.) Positives? Coin Laundry available -not many on the islands & expensive to operate for only 4 months of the year Coin Shower - very few on Haida Gwaii – with hot water and scrubbed many times a day and also only open for 4 months a year Dead quiet -I like it quiet too Very reasonable price – The price was TOO reasonable and did not cover the costs of constant cleaning- endless toilet paper changes- garbage costs- lawn cutting- taxes for 2 lots- electricity at sites and for clothes dryer and 2 hot water tanks- water costs- repair costs- being on call all day- answering emails all year round, grumpy campers... So yes, a family of 2 adults and 3 kids all for a total of $15.00 is ridiculously reasonable! Work 4 months a year/7 days a week/14 hour days for 1 person for only 3/5 rating means a price hike from now on – at least one of us will be happy?
