A very pleasant and memorable stay (altogether 10 nights) with an extremely hospitable staff, even though communication was limited I needed to go to a clinic - a staff member immediately offered to take me to a hospital. I inquired about a restaurant in town - the receptionist drove me there and we had dinner together (he did not even let me take care of the bill, which made me as a "rich" tourist feel a little embarrassed). I was also shown some of the sights in the vicinity (pagodas) by Linh on his scooter. The location of the hotel is about a 25-minute walk from the city center, but there are a number of good restaurants and (Vietnamese) breakfast places and cafés nearby.

Upon arrival at the hotel on our scheduled check-in day, we were told that our booking had been cancelled as the hotel policy was to cancel at 3pm if bookings were not re-confirmed. The hotel sent through the re-confirmation message via Agoda at 10pm the night before we were due to arrive (Agoda does not automatically re-forward to their users email addresses until a few hours/a day later - so be careful!). We had been on a plane and did not see the message or email, and had missed their 3pm deadline, having arrived at 4pm (strange as most hotels don't even let you check in until 2pm). After about 20 minutes of back and forth, and all 7 of our travelling party threatening to leave for another hotel, they finally budged and gave us 2 standard rooms and 2 family rooms, all at our original pre-booked rates. We found the hotel receptionist/management to be quite rude in the interactions. In fact, she continued to assert that she had exhausted all possible options to contact us before cancelling (not true, as she had our email and whatsapp details which she did not contact us through) and even pointed to an earlier confirmation she had sent in March which she says we should have responded to... the confirmation literally says that our booking is confirmed - what on earth are we meant to respond with? Thanks? Ok? Overall, the rooms were fine. A few lizards and bugs but that is to be expected given Soc Trang is off the beaten path. Location is a few minutes out of the centre of town. Beds were hard and uncomfortable. Only reason why they are getting more than 1 star is the fact that they at least had the decency to give us the upgraded rooms at our original booking rate. If you stay here, be careful to re-confirm with them (especially if it is close to the date of your check in and they haven't reached out to you yet, or else you may be in for an unpleasant surprise). Hopefully they have taken on board our feedback and send their re-confirmation requests a few days before scheduled check-in which is customary for other hotels we've stayed at.…

Auf dem Weg nach Con Dao haben wir hier eine Nacht übernachtet. Es war super, sehr sauber, bequemes Bett, nettes Personal. Mit Google Translator konnten wir uns super verständigen. Die Stadt hat keine Touristen, sodass wir von jedem im Vorbeigehen angeguckt wurden. Es gibt in der Nähe typisch vietnamesische kleine Läden zum Essen, da waren wir aber nicht.
