Kulani's Hideway is VERY clean and just up the road from Waianapanapa State Park and the black sand beach. Just a 3 minute drive. THere was a smell of mildew from the sofa but I guess when you are that close to the beach it is something hard to control. Kitchen was clean. BUT....next door are at LEAST 3 hunting dogs (I saw 6 cages) and they would bark for as long as a half hour at passing cars and who knows what. Once I sat on the Lanai and they barked at me the whole time (20 minutes). Pretty ferocious! They were actually clawing the fence. The dogs are fenced in but at night I saw 2 HUGE dogs roaming around near my car. Not sure if they were the same dogs but I wouldn't go outside. Fortunately they didn't bark at night, but during the day. You don't need an alarm clock. The dogs will wake you in the morning. Also, there is only a thin door separating you from the other room. You can hear everything. THe door is not soundproofed. I could hear the guy next door coughing, etc. The bedroom, however, is far away enough. Too bad, this place is nice... but those dogs are something else. I wouldn't stay here again. But then again, I came here for quiet. But, of course, some people are not bothered by barking dogs...…
