Charmingly situated on the main access road within a most unprepossessing industrial estate, this hostal, (although it calls itself an hotel), has two things in its favour - it is inexpensive and the food is quite superb, (actually the receptionist / barman / jack-of-all-trades probably counts as an extra half a thing - he was pleasant and as soon as he was aware of my former profession, very helpful). Right, where do we start? It's a few minutes' walk away from a residential area reminiscent of Soviet era worker's housing blocks. It's also within 20 minute's walk of the town's main attraction - twin stork nests on the church tower! It's raison d'etre is obviously serving an artisanal clientele from said adjacent industrial estate; a purpose for which it is admirably suited due to its location - so I'm probably being unfair, but believe me, Trip Advisor readers are not under any circumstances natural customers. We stayed on a Saturday night and discovered at a quarter to midnight that one of the adjacent buildings was a very loud nightclub/disco and another was hosting an enthusiastic party. The volume of noise was incredible and unrelenting. It purportedly has air conditioning and WiFi. The advertised WiFi only works properly in the stair well, and the rooms are of a size that enables the local feline population to swagger about without fear of being swung. The price per single occupancy room with bathroom is reasonable, though not remarkable at €23.00 per person, and while my room had working AC, my companion's did not. Mine did not have soap or shampoo, but my colleague's did at least have some soap. My room and bathroom I thought reasonably clean, my friend thought the contrary. The bar seemed specifically designed to amplify the raucous good humour of the less than sophisticated, though good humoured, clientele. The restaurant served very good food, actually exceptionally good, but we were emphatically informed that only a la carte was available in the evening. I was an international trucker before my retirement and it took me a considerable time and the full range of my basic Spanish and my insistence and irrefutable knowledge of how these things work to ensure that we were not conned into paying some €50 for a meal for two that eventually cost some €18. The average punter has no chance of achieving such a result. It's cheap but not inexpensive - I make a habit of staying in basic hostels/hotels and this is a like-for-like appraisal. I've stayed in many which cost less and offer so much more. Avoid if possible.
