Pros: reasonably priced, clean, close to the center but quiet location Cons: Breakfast relatively expensive and only for conventional eaters, also on the first day there was no green or black tea, which is inaccepptable in my opinion. Extremely clairaudient doors to the corridor: although we have been the only guests over the weekend, some people, very likely employees of the hostel walked up and down the corridor and talked in front of my door around 6'o'clock in the morning!!! This is really bad behavior! Absolutely a no-go! During the week mechanics supposedly rent rooms in the hostel. So I can recommend the place only for vacation guests who have either a very deep sleep or who like to get up at 6.00! Pros: Preiswert, sauber, relativ zentrale ruhige Lage Cons: Frühstück verhältnismäßig teuer und wenig kreativ, am ersten morgen fehlte einfacher schwarzer oder grüner Tee. Extrem hellhörig zum Gang: Obwohl wir über das Wochenende die einzigen Gäste waren, sind (vermutlich) Angestellte des Hostels am Sonntag vor 6.00 mehrmals durch den Gang gelaufen und haben sich vor meiner Zimmertüre unterhalten, sodass ich aufgewacht bin. So etwas finde ich ein absolutes No go!!!! Unter der Woche wohnen hier Monteure, sodass der normale urlaubsgast, der nicht schon um 6.00 aufstehen möchte, hier besser nicht absteigt. Fazit: für Leute mit sehr gutem Schlaf oder Frühaufsteher preiswertes Hostel…

Wir waren dort mit einer Jugendgruppe. Die Zimmer im Hostel wirken hell und freundlich und sind Top ausgestattet. Auch die Bäder auf den Zimmer waren sehr gut. Vom Hostel waren es nur ein paar Meter bis ins Zentrum. Die Angestellten waren nett und hilfsbereit. Klare Empfehlung!

I stayed in Sporthostel in Wiessenfels in November 2015 for three nights. Cheaper to book direct that through the usual agencies. And compared with a more conventional hotel it was good value for money. It was a quiet time of year in Wiesenfels! To say the least! I think I saw two other guests the whole time I was there! Having said that I had a great room all to myself. It had bunk beds for four - and the mattress was excellent, as was the duvet! And the heating was very good and easily adjusted (rare in any hotel!). The shower cubicle was big (big enough for three people probably - but I didn't put that to the test! I doubt I could have found three people there to be honest!) and the water power was very good plus there was always all the hot water you could need! The room was spacious too - although it would be a bit cramped if all the beds were occupied. There was a large tv with satellite channels. There were also basic catering facilities in the reception room. Be aware though that breakfast is not served to individuals - only groups. And unless you take your own tea/coffee/milk etc you wont get any drinks! The place is about 15 mins walk from the town centre. If you don't have any heavy luggage or it is raining there's no real need for a taxi from the station There isn't a lot to do in Weissenfels! But if you are into cream cakes, pastries, pancakes and all manner of sweet things you wont go short! I had a very specific reason for going to Wiessenfels but without that I doubt I would have ever been tempted to go there! One of the most interesting attractions is the Shoe Museum. This is housed in an amazingly imposing building which dominates this small German town. Set high on a hill looking down on the town, this building has an interesting history which is described in detail within the building (2.5 euros) and houses a WW2 American memorial. The Shoe Museum is very well presented (except there is no interpretation for anyone who does not speak German!). There are about six or so restaurants in the town. The best one in my view was the Italian one, Bella Mia in Leipziger Strasse just off the main square. The German one - Altes Brauhaus (again, just off the main square) is also very good. There is also an Irish Bar in Weissenfels (like in most places). This one is set in a beautiful building and has a great atmosphere. It is friendly there and they serve good food (and Guinness of course!).…
