Nous avons très bien mangé à chaque repas et sur demande il fut possible de goûter aux savoureux soupers de madame drouin. L'endroit toujours propre et comfortable et plus encore. Idéal pour ceux qui aiment l'Art . Les hôtes ont été très accueillants et sympathiques. À proximité de Montréal et près des services essentiels. Un bon compromis entre ville et campagne. Merci beaucoup pour tout. Félix

This was one of the nicest B&Bs I have stayed at, and yet it was incredibly affordable at CAD$75 a night plus tax - in fact since we were having a longer stay the owner gave us a deal of only CAD$65 a night.
The owner is an artist - she paints lush canvases of floral close-ups, kind of like Georgia O'Keefe except meatier and more intense. Her artistic tastes are reflected in the modern, chic decor of the rooms - nary a doily or chintz bedspread in sight. Instead there were gigantic, ultra-comfortable beds, and cool quiet rooms with Mme Drouin's elegant canvasses on the walls. We had a baby with us during our stay, and apparently the rooms are so well-insulated that even when our poor little daughter had a crying jag in the middle of the night, guests in the neighboring room heard nothing whatever.
The breakfasts were generous and very gourmet - an omelet one day, crepes the next, as well as fruits, cheeses, pates, and basically every tasty thing you might possibly want to eat.
Mme Drouin was also very fun and bubbly, and we really enjoyed talking with her and her husband in the mornings. We couldn't have asked for kinder or more considerate hosts. On the ground floor of the B&B is Mme Drouin's studio where she teaches painting classes. She offers packages where people come to stay at the B&B and take several days or a weekend worth of painting classes, which sounded really fun. We didn't try the classes but might next time we go (we definitely plan on staying here again if at all possible!)
As for the location, it is on the outskirts of a smallish town called Ste-Julie in the Monteregie/Richelieu River region, about a half-hour drive from downtown Montreal (except it's longer when there's traffic, which there always seems to be). The house faces agricultural land and there is also a big electrical array which is not that attractive, but you don't necessarily see it from every angle looking out the front window. We were there during fertilizing/manure season, and there was definitely an odor when you went outside, so if you go in the spring be prepared for some farm smells!
On whole, though, I would unreservedly recommend this place as a great base for daytrips into Montreal and the surrounding countryside.
